I needed a 10 degree bushing for my 408 build and there was no way I was going to pay $35 plus shipping to get one from 4secondsflat.com. I have a CNC lathe at my shop so I made my own. I've had a lot of interest from other members about buying one so here I am. I'll sell them for $5 plus $1 to cover an envelope, stamp and paypal fees. I'll also offer to make any diameter you want for $15 plus shipping. (4secondsflat charges $100 for custom sizes!!!) PM for my paypal info, Thanks.

I have 2 bushings that should yield 12* advance. I made these while adjusting the machine to make the 10*. I'll let them go at the regular $5 price.

First batch of 10* are ready to ship. Thanks

So these wont work in anything other than MSD dist' ?

That's correct. MSD uses different bushing sizes to control the amount of mechanical advance. The smallest size that they offer is 18* so there seems to be a good deal of demand for these smaller sizes.

Ya..........KNOW.................that brings forth an idea...............Why couldn't a guy mill the slots of the Mopar distributors wider and longer and then USE bushings to adjust?

Can you give me dimensions of the bushing mount, and MSD slots?

I'm not familiar with the mopar dizzy but I'm willing to help develop such an idea. I have a complete fabrication shop at my disposal. Any products that you guys think are missing from the market just let me know.

The bushing mount is a 10-32 threaded stud. The slot is roughly .380 wide and .450 long.

I'm going to list these on Ebay but FABO members can still buy them here for the lower price, Thanks.

Yeah I was going to tell you to do that. Thing about it is these bushings are used in all the MDS Pro Billet Dizzy's and their regular performance line no matter what brand car they go in!

Not real feasible IMO. The pin size of the weight is pretty big. You'd have to open up the slot quite a bit and maybe use an offset/oval style bushing.

You get word out about the bushings and price it reasonable, you'll sell a bunch! Honest, you could sell them for $8-10 each and sell them all day long is my guess. Stick with your custom for $15...

I was going to do this, making them in 16-14-12-10 sizing. That should cover almost any situation without much altering to the base distributor. You could make a 6-8 degree too, would definitely need the sides shaved.

remember to list them as approximate, the slot sizes are not all uniformed from one dist to another

From what I have seen so far, if I machine them within .0005 of my spec the advance is dead on. I guess it's possible that they could vary very slightly.

I think the mopar dizzy could be modified to be adjustable with a bushing as well. First the slots would machined wider and made as long as possible. Then I would drill and tap the post on one of the weights so a screw could be used to hold the bushing to the weight. I think you would only need to do this on one weight not both. Bushings could be made for any desired advance at this point. Once I get my hands on an old dizzy I'll build a prototype.

Here's the issue with getting complicated on mopar distributors...

The disc is $18 from them... 18-14-10 degrees advance along with a lockout.

Guess I'll stay away from the factory dizzy then. Surprised they priced it so low considering what they charge for the MSD bushings. It's a smart design they have there. Much simpler than what I had in mind.

I am going this route, but have only set total timing, not base and then installed the bushing. I am running a 408 as well. Do you have different sizes available? I will check my timing this Saturday and will know what I need.
