I wonder if he somehow over-speeded the dyno....? If he just overpowered it, I'd think there would be burning rubber.

A lotta dollar bills just went *poof* into mid-air.
 
A better view of the rear, go to about 1:19

In the front view you can clearly see that the sparks originate from the dyno, I don't think this is a failure of the car. Wonder who pays for that mess?

I think this is the first time I have ever seen a Dyno go, before a ride does.

Also, 1998 called and they want their Ford body kit and Hotwheels Rims back...
 
that dyno wasn't set up properly, looks like a bearing went on the front roller, then it all went to hell...
 
I've built similar dynos for Superflow at the shop I weld at. When you look at the front view of the car in the video when the roll/drum comes out, you can see the mounting holes for the bearing mount and for the shaft to protrude from. Either someone didn't make sure the bearing mount bolts were tight after...who knows how many runs on that thing??....and it ended up ripping the loose bolts right through the holes.
Or, the rolls/drums weren't balanced properly....and at the frickin Autobahn cruising speed he was at, brought out the imbalance and it let loose.
I've balanced rolls for Superflow many times and it can be a PIA! It's done by computer but you have to weld the weights where the computer shows the imbalance is....sounds easy but it really sucks!! When the computer spins the roll, it only spins about 250rpm.
Lucky no one was killed.
 
I agree with the above statement. Operator error had the rollers spinning WAY to fast
 
That sucks! I won't be trusting anyone's potable dyno after seeing that. Come to think of it, dont think i will be watching any either. I was expecting the motor or something in the driveline to fail. I hope nobody was hurt. I feel bad for the owner of the car. Most dyno tests I have seen were done by the operators of the dyno. I was aslo shocked at how fast they were spinning the rollers. Too much money and not enough sense.
