Anyone ever try rebuilding an ignition module?

To build a more modern one a LM1815 or MAX9924 could be used as the variable reluctance interface, and an ignition IGBT for the coil drive transistor. Add a few resistors, a small transistor, a couple capacitors, yields a circuit superior to the HEI or Mopar boxes. In volume, cost could be about $5. But, the reluctor/pickup coil (VR) and mechanical errors of the OEM mopar distributor, makes it hardly worthwhile in my humble opinion.
