Anybody here ever imported a strip/street abody from the US?

Just a question for fellow Canadians.

I have imported cars from the US before. I use TFX International out of GTA as the service is outstanding and I have never had an issue at customs.

I am about to finalize a deal on an early abody with full cage and mini tub. I am a little worried about customs on this one as the provision about modifications leaves a lot to interpretation.

Since the car is older than 15 years it doesn't t fall under RIV but if I happen to get a nasty customs agent I might be screwed. The car is on the street in the US has running lights, wipers, horn, muffler etc.

It is just the cage and tubs that has me worried.

TFX says I shouldn't worry but they said they can't guarantee anything in the case we get a difficult customs agent.

Anyone here ever imported a car with cage or prostreet condition?

You should pm one of the kids and get them to move this into general discussion. It might get more response there. I have imported a couple vehicles from the States, but nothing with those kind of modifications. The wildest I brought over was a Ramcharger with a lift kit and 33x12.5s. No problems with it, except I tried to cross Queenston/Lewiston bridge on a weekend, and they didn't import/export on weekends then. It cost me a nights hotel room and nights pay. Good luck!
