I am in the market for a set of aluminum roller rockers and am trying to decide which to get. I am looking at the crane gold or the hughes. Need opinions. The Hughes look like a good rocker but I have not heard anything about them. Anyone here using them.

I have a set and they are excellent. Rocket tip alignment was spot on.

I have the 1.5's and they have been good. To do it over I would have gotten the 1.6 rockers. Geometry has to be set up but it isn't bad. They also have shims for under the shafts and for between the rockers and hold downs, I would get an assortment.

I bought a set from Mancini. They are made by Harland Sharp for Mancini. 1.6 ratio for my 493 in the Charger.
Problem is, they came with NO INSTRUCTIONS. The kit has all sorts of shims and spacers of different widths. The pushrod length checking tool also had NO INSTRUCTIONS. It also has no numbers on it for a length reference.
I talked to the guys at Mancini. He agreed that there should at least be some basic instructions and he was going to speak with the management about it.

Hughes rockers are awesome. I have 1.6's on my 408, and 1.5's on my hot street 318. Hughes makes a very nice rocker arm.

Just for comparison, I have the Crane Golds and find them quite noisy. A friend has a set and has the same comment.

I put a set of Hughes on my 416 when I changed to the solid roller cam.

As for instructions, Hughes tech section has lots of instructions. Their instructions for the shims tells you how to set for geometry.

Hughes hands down! The last engine I built Hughes was going through a transition phase and did not have them in stock. They actually did not know when they would have them again. I ended up using the PRW 1.6 Stainless Rockers. Motor is a Stroker Solid Roller Cam 634 Lift 242@50, Spring pressures are in the 520Lb range. I have revved this engine to 7K over and over and it has NEVER missed a beat. The adjustment has not moved a bit and the Rockers are pretty darn quite too.... Sounds like a mini sewing machine.

I am I n the process of getting new rockers and arms. Was looking to get Hughes 1.6 , now I think it's for sure, after this thread.

I have the Crane gold 1.5 in my 408. Noisy? Not really. A different sound for sure, but I suspect it's more the combination of hydraulic roller lifters and roller rockers. My car runs beautifully with them.

I put the Hughes 1.6 on my 318.. Using 1 1/2 turns preload on a hydraulic lifter camshaft, quiet. No issues so far.
Used their holddown kit, shims and spacers as required.

DRENO give me a shout and you can see/hear them in person.!

I would have to agree. My crane golds were quieter than my buddies 408 with Hughes rockers. My motor had a hydrolic cam and his is a solid. I think the valve train noise depends on your combo and what your lash/preload is set at. Not so sure one is any better than the other as much as personal preference. I think they are both good quality

I have Hughes 1.6 on my 408 with a solid cam. Geometry was spot on and after 700 miles the valve lash is still spot on.

A hydraulic cam will be much quieter than a solid regardless of the rockers.

Keep in mind COMP only sells them in 1.5 Ratio, unless something has changed. Hughes are available in 1.5 or 1.6 Ratio.

Also like I stated earlier. I am running the PRW's and the geometry was spot on. .634 Lift Solid Roller and the adjustment has not moved. Revv to the 7K Range all the time. Last night was no different Ran the **** out of it. Messed up 1 time on the shift bounced of the rev chip @ 7200, grabbed the gear back on it..... Never missed a beat!

COMP Cams Pro Magnum shaft mount roller rocker arms combine the strength of 8650 chromoly steel and the weight savings of aluminum rockers. COMP Cams took advantage of computer design to simulate the stresses that affect rockers under various operating loads. This allowed the engineers to lessen the rockers' mass at non-critical areas and strengthen the areas that take the most punishment. The results are rocker arms that are strong where they need to be and actually weigh 5 percent less at the valve than comparable aluminum rockers.

Best way to buy a part is if they look bad ***...... NOT. Those are also Pedestal Mount for Magnum Heads not Shaft in that picture.
