I blasted bare, degreasee with alcohol and painted my rotors with vht header paint. Baked them slowly up to temp and slowly cooling at 250 then 500 degrees.
I like it pretty decently. So, should I turn the rotors to get the paint off the contact area, or run them with cheap pads for a while, on the car to get the paint off?

Anyone with experience running painted rotors on the car and the results?

Run it off. The accord had painted rotors, paint came right off, never though twice about it.

I painted them so they wouldn't rust around the fins and essentially the whole thing.. Minus the pad contact area of course, cause that will normally stay shiny due to braking.

I'd use a roloc disc and take it off first. Why foul the pads and change them again? Do it once and do it right and you'll never regret it.

Thinner on a scotch-brite pad clean them, you can tape them so the paint will stay on the fins

Im going to run it. 10 dollar cheapo pads, tool around a little on the gravel road, then chuck the pads into the creek to help with turtle fertility cycle. Then I am putting on EBC yellows or maybe green if the yellows are too much.

drive the car and forget about it. most of the rotors we install come painted out of the box, buy the time we leave the parking lot it is already off. doesn't affect the pad performance a bit.
