Well Guys I have been flat out in the shed.
Pulled the Gearbox out and found the following requires replacing:
1. T/O Bearing retainer housing cracked ( on the shaft)
2.Input shaft teeth ( not much left)
3.All Synchronizer hubs and rings ( Had a hard life)
4.Shift forks ( brass ones worn out)
5.V Gate Mr Gasket shifter has dodgy linkages.
6.2nd gear looks pretty average.
Could probably buy a rebuilt box from Brewers for the same $$ as the cost to rebuild this one but , hey who doesn't enjoy a 4 speed rebuild.
The rest looks good so I bought replacement parts from Brewers and Passon.

While the parts are on the way I have removed the dash and doing a DIY dash Resto , so far so good. :headbang:

Synchro no go. Anyone recognize the B pillar and rear window. Hint: It has a factory fitted 383-727 in it but its not a Mopar.

Good to see you are doing it right.

I have a 67 Barracuda fastback Formula S 273 car in mid restoration.

I also have a 68 Barracuda fastback Formula S 340 waiting in line for its turn for a resto.

Have fun restoring your car! We are here if you need any advice.

Thanks.Nice damn car! When you get around to it,please start a thread here.

Just viewed your gallery and found it to be very cool. Jensen is pretty unique. Thanks for posting and I agree, start a thread on the Jensen. Keep the Cuda into coming too.

Cool, Thanks Guys.

Well while i'm waiting for parts I researched this site on Dash restorations. and have almost finished my DIY Dash Resto ,following instructions from previous threads. I must say im pretty happy with it. Here are a few pics so far.

The Masking takes the longest , Apply what Is called The 7 P's:

Prior Planning and Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Scotch bright the dash down, clean with soapy water and let dry. Wipe clean with a clean cloth. Paint entire dash black- let dry then Cover this area with good quality masking tape.

Now the Silver Layer.

Then paint Silver all over- let dry. Than tape the lower silver section up. and apply the chrome paint. I used a couple of coats for the chrome to get it flat and as shiny as possible.

Get some of that Meguiars Sctratch X plastic polish. It works really well. Be careful when you have it in your hand polishing as a bit too much pressure and it will crack- like my one did.:violent1:

I am currently doing the final touch ups and post final result with bigger picture in a few hours. While it was all apart I cleaned the switches, tested the gauges and painted the needles. :burnout:

Dash: The chrome on the letters is pretty tricky. I done it by hand with a small paint brush I use on model cars. I just sprayed some chrome paint in a jar and painted it straight on. A shot or three of scotch seems to help keep the nerves calm :)

I twist a q-tip and dab the lettering and outlines. You can remove the barracuda script on the glove box with a soldering iron the pins are thin so don't over do it. The fish you have to tape and it is a Beeach. Blue 1/8" fine line tape is your friend!

Did you crack one of the lens? The crack will shine through like a sore thumb when lit. If you did - replace it.

Looking good!

John

Work has been extremely busy leaving me limited time to work on the Barracuda.
I managed to find a good Kelsey Hays Brake rebuild kit from Harmon Classics which is excellent quality.
I found the crossover hard lines at Fine Lines and they are also excellent quality and fit with no troubles.
I also purchased a 440 for a good price. Since I am getting close to getting the beast on the road, I will use the 440 while I'm rebuilding my Numbers matching 383.
