Ok so, car is 1974 Dart Swinger 360 power steering that I put the headman block hugger headers on and I just am not happy with them, I think I may switch to manifolds. I know the 340 manifolds are the ones people want, but for the price of them I can get a set of headers that would work better then what I have. So question is, what manifolds are the best to use that cost less then the 340 manifolds? I know I need a manifold that dumps into the back for the passenger side and the driver side needs to dump in the middle, I have a set of 318 manifolds from the original motor. Or I was looking at building a set from a V8 magnum Durango and a early 80's dodge ram...

theres some posts also on this issue

for the most part if you have p/s the drivers magnum manifold won't fit without a lot of grinding and frigging, non p/s seems to be ok even on the earlier a's

magnum passenger fit is easy

I have the 68-71 340 on the passenger and the magnum on the passenger

if you hunt around you should be able to pick up a 340 drivers manifold only for 75-100

there is only 7-11 horsepower difference between the 340 and 318 exhaust manifolds

Thanks buddy, the 80's ram driver side that dumps in the middle looks larger then the stock 318 from my car so I figured I would use that and then a passenger side from a Durango.

I could be wrong but I think that you will find that that center dump manifold will cause a problem clearing the k member or that you will wind up with an interesting bend on the pipe exiting the manifold.

I spent a bunch of time researching the best choices, good luck.

I have late 80's smog manifolds on my 360 magnum. The outlets are the same size as the dakota manifolds that were on the engine. I understand that they'll be more restrictive than the stock a-body 360 manifolds due to the internal design....but they're bigger than the 318 stockers and they cost me $40 at the local yard...so I'll deal with them for now. Driver side is rear dump, passenger side is center dump. Clearance is about 3/4 of an inch to the P/S box so I may have to do a heat shield or something, but the turbo j-pipe on the slant that was that close to the box without issues.

that's good to know, thank you
