I have absolutely no idea what year my 360 is...is there a way I can tell ?

Hoping to install the engine tomorrow but finding bolts for the flexplate has been interesting..not quite there yet.

So after reading and a lot of help from FABO members i decided that yes, I had the right brackets sold to me to mount the alternator on to the 360. They look exactly like the ones I see in a book about ebuilding a 360.

I also noticed that i didn't have a very long bolt that screws into the block plus two spacers.

Out of fun, I tossed the alternator on the car tonight just to see how it all goes together and there is no way, the long bolt will fit...the alignment is off.

Was I sold the wrong brackets or is how I have mounted, correct except for the spacer between the two ears of the alternator ?

I would not have believed that a silple issue like this could cause so much consternation.

As always, i appreciate any help.

The bracket that bolts the water pump are wrong, it should looke like a triangle.

Yup, that is the right one.
Same brackets, from about 71 to mid 80's.
For 30 bucks I would not even scrounge the junk yards for one.

Hey Ian hows things?

unfortunatly you were sold v8 alternator brackets but they appear to be for an A/C setup, the thing that is wrong in your picutures as others have said is the triangle bracket that bolts to the waterpump. also do you have the two spacers and long bolt that are needed?
as you know shipping is killer on parts online. PM me I think I can help with this one

Heres some help....you need a little more..pm me if I can help ..j

I have everything you need $40 plus ride could fit in a $16.00 flat rate box. That includes all bolts, spacers, pulleys and brackets . All off of a 71 non air power steering car including single alternator pulley, crank and water pump pulley. Plus used belts from same car. No power steering pump. Everything will be glass beaded with a pic of them on motor before taken off. For correct placement. Don't second guess they won't be here long. Now that I posted them on your thread.

I see you didn't like the help I sent you..this is how they go..these are the proper parts,,,j

Search for photos here. Once you get the correct triangle bracket, I have seen the alternator installed both in front and behind the bracket. I think it depends on your pulley setup (AC, pwr steering, ...). I bought a chrome bracket set on ebay cheap and a few chrome spacers from Ace Hardware. The alternator is easy to locate axially. Wait until you have to fool with other components like p.s. pump or after-market AC compressor.

Yes you are correct.the brkts in his pic will not work for his application.one of his brkts from the pic looks like a p/steering brkt..iv got sets from pre and after and none I have use it..The absolute best thing for him to do is to take up Oldmanmopar on his offer..a great deal and it WILL solve his problems and mighty cheaply at that..great deal..j

I am truly sorry if I insulted anyone..that was not my intent.

I am feeling somewhat overwhelmed at the moment. The kids want it to go faster and i am running into parts / bolts / knowledge problems. Even more today. Talk about wanting to walk away.

ALL YOU DID WAS POST PICTURES...no..all I did was go out and take pictures of my car and post for him.."pictures speak a thousand words"shows what parts are needed and how and what order they go in...and since old manmopar offered him a whale of a deal ,you will have to excuse me if I don't step on anyones toes by making him an offer after someone else already has....besides,what I offered him was way better than making paper templates..and by the way mr valiant...what did you offer him?????????????????

I've got the same problem. I'm replacing a 318 with a 360 and don't have the proper brackets for power steering or for the alternator.

the 318 and 360 share all the same external accessory brackets. just reuse them
