I'm putting together a 57 Desoto 341 hemi for my 67 Valiant. Hope to have it running by labor day.

Sounds cool but some more details would better.
It's a 57 Desoto 341 hemi plus .060" to make 352 cubes. 10-1 Venolias, Contrerras roller cam, ported heads with Chevy and Pontiac valves, a pair of Garrett T3/T4 turbos and intercooling, Hilborn injection converted to TPI injection with 72# injectors and Megasquirt control. I made a mold for the timing cover and had it cast in aluminum. It takes a 318-340 type water pump. Built 727 and 8-3/4" rear with 3.91 posi. Will run on E-85.

Sweet I love the old hemis it might be two much gear its my understanding turbo cars like highway gearing, also with you running e85 a intercooler my not be needed but by you living in Arizona it my benefit you.
I can't wait to see some pics

Wow,thats way outside the box. Very cool.

It's my understanding that 10:1 ain't bad for E-85

I'm actually rounding up Low Deck Desoto parts for a long term clone project of the Adams and Enriquez Jr. Fueler...first normally aspirated car over 200 back in 1970 and only 298 cubes!
I've owned and raced every type of Hemi there is...but there's something about the Desoto that just turns me on like crazy.
LOVE your car man...can't wait to see the numbers!

Hope this helps. Bill

Holy Mother of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:prayer:

That, sir, is spectacular.

On a side note, any chance you're selling those aluminum timing covers? I have a couple of DeSoto hemi's myself...

God dang. I hope I get to see this thing around on the street eventually. Awesome job so far!

The mag isn't installed in the block yet. I have to weld the advance shut and the Megasuirt will do all the timing. As far as compression goes, I'm betting that intercooling and E-85 will do the trick. There's a guy here in Tucson with a 34 Plymouth with a twin turbo 340. The engine is bone stock. It has no intercooling and runs 12 lbs boost with pump gas and octane booster. Says he has no problems.

Holy cow!!!! Twin turbo hemi! I need to go change boxers...

Seriously though you should use some 2.76 gears, it will be waaaay faster than the 3.91s cause turbos love load.

There is a brother-sister team running a pair of Desoto powered dragsters up in Oregon. Go to youtube and type in injected Desoto hemi. Too cool. There's a better description of my motor there at Bill's Desoto 341 hemi.

and I thought the birth of my children was the most beautiful I would ever see. You proved me wrong sir.

Got a tach drive on that magneto? I have a NIB Stewart Warner 5" mechanical tachometer that really belongs on a beast like that...
