need oomph in the 30-60mph range

you want a good low duration/ wide LSA cam for lots of cylinder pressure at low rpm = TQ

9-9.3:1 static compression and run on 87 with a good timing curve

16 initial, 30 total all in by 2000rpm with 55-60 vacuum adv.

the 1.7/1.44 would be good with a nice port job, have them use the cutter deep into the bowls and then just blend. lastly gasket match the intake and exhaust to the head

on the exhaust run stock manifold thru 2.25 all the way from the flange back, or some split system but not headers in your case...

get a good efficent converter, like 1800-2200 stall. look up edge street converters.

that gear has to go but i wouldn't go any higher than a 3.23

do the offy intake with the two barrel, has better low end with small port and plenum.

in the tranny i would do a stage I or II shift kit for better shifts with a stock internal rebuild, but clearanced properly for longer life and more power to the ground.
