so i let the wife drive

Hahahah! I have the same stories with my wife. She's afraid to even ride with me driving the GTX (440 engine). She will drive the Cuda (273 engine) though. We took both cars to be in a 4th of July parade in Haddonfield. She was to follow behind me to get there. I start off on a 50 MPH road at 50 MPH (I usually drive 10 MPH higher than the speed limit, but didn't on this day) with her on my bumper. Then a minute later I see that she's a mile behind me already. I time the traffic lights to catch it at red and wave my wife to pull up next to me. I say "why are you driving so slow?". She yells back, "I'm not driving over the speed limit like you, I'm afraid!". Oh, I get it. She thinks the broken speedometer is actually working. So I replied "your speedo is broken! I'm not speeding! Stay on my bumper!". She did for the rest of the trip. When we got to the parade, I told my brother-in-law this story and he asks me if I was telling her the truth. I said to look at the speedo and tell me what it says while parked there. He saw it read 30 MPH just sitting there in "park" and started laughing. I said I would have thought my wife would have seen this and just disregarded any numbers it displayed - she didn't. My brother-in-law drove the car in the parade because my wife was still too scared. FYI - this car isn't even a restored show car.

I later told her that I care much more about her than the car and that she should enjoy driving it instead of worrying about it - it's insured! She said it is easier said than done. Gotta love 'em!
