Shifter question, dual gate shifter?

Not that this is going ot of much help but years ago I had a Turbo Action Cheetah shifter in my Dart with a 727. I took it out when I sold the car...and put it in my Ranger with a c-4. To get low gear I had to give up on park. Did not matter how I adjusted it, I could not have both. I took it to mean that the throws on the trans were a bit different so the gate that worked on a 727 would be different that the gate form a c-4. If this is true I would think trying to use a gm shifter would be a problem....I never verified this about the gate so....

....

That's what I was getting at. The gate should be fairly easy to work with if you only change the length of the arm that moves the cable ( either at the trans or at the shifter ) . Further from the pivot will give you more cable travel per gate slot, closer to the pivot is less travel.
I had to do the same thing with my 46re setup with my Duster. The cable, trans brackets were from a column shift truck, shifter itself was a floor shifter from a Jeep cherokee. I ended up having to use the brackets from the Jeep trans and tweek the shifter bracket where the cable inserts for correct gear selector travel to match with shifter position.
