wow, real neat looking car, i love it!! it may have been said already and i may have missed it but your gauge cluster, is that a custom thing or something a company had built for you? looks great!

Thanks, the gauges are Autometer, the bezel is just plastic and a couple places sell similar items like it for about $120 if I remember correctly. But I can't remember where from. My painter found it and bought it thinking I might like it, and I've seen them online since then but can't remember where. Google will be more helpful then me I'm afraid.
 
Its totally misleading without the deep lip on the rims the tires don't look that wide from the side, but wow, it 's a whole difference animal from the rear.....thats definatley the money shot. Looks Awesome !!!!!
 
Knowing what you had under there, I expected the character of the car to be enhanced in dramatic fashion. Dusters just shine with wide rear rubber. No exception here, looks awesome.
I'm curious about hook-up. Is a burn-out even possible?

When tires are cold, putting the skinny pedal to the floor results in no traction through much of 1st gear, break loose shifting into 2nd. No brake standing or preloading,,,just stomping on the gas. Once those drag radials are warmed up good I still get spinning for 20-30 feet. Someday a video will be in order :)

Just looked back at your engine specs. I get it now :)
Where would you put your power estimate?
Not sure what to expect with my modest 360 build. I've got less rubber than you, with 285/40/18s, hoping I'll be able to smoke em.
Seems kinda silly in a way, wanting the best of both worlds, go fast and make smoke :burnout:

I had a modest 360 before, lucky if it was 400HP at flywheel, but with 4000 stall and steep gears she would light em up easy and was a fun light to light car, 20 yrs ago.
No estimate needed, I had my engine on a dyno last winter, sea level numbers were 605HP and 566TQ. Cheers
 
605 and 566... definitely need a video of what that can do to those fatties.

I'm planning RHS heads, 4 speed and 410 gears. I really don't know what to expect but I've got my fingers crossed hoping it will get the job done.

Whats the rest of the motor, cam specs etc that you plan to use?
 
I'm basically building the "junkyard Magnum" that was done in one of the magazines, and a few here have built with some good results.

What I have so far is a 98 Magnum (used from a truck), Air Gap, and Holley 750 DP. Purchase plans include RHS heads from Brian at IMM, Dougs or TTIs and a cam recommended by Brian at IMM. With my combo he likes the Comp Cams Thumpr. Lots of haters of that cam but Brian reports good performance so I'm not about to argue. It has a 107 LSA, I/E duration 227/241, lift .513/.498.

If I have to do any cylinder boring, I'll add pistons that up the compression some but I want to burn pump gas. I think I'll also purchase the rocker setup from Hughes.

My project has been idle for a while but I'm about to get back at it.

No track time, I wouldn't mind doing an 1/8" mile to get a feel for what she would do but I won't even pass tech for the street legal test and tune nights because I relocated the battery to trunk and I have no kill switch. And no insurance for a 1/4mile worries me a bit, I put a small fortune into her and it would just be my luck something lets go and I hit a wall. Or other guy takes me out. I want to build another track only car in a yr or two.
