QA1 Front suspension

-
So being that I have only ran stock k member and control arms before this, I have no experience with the cap stuff. I am sure there are plenty of threads about it. From what I have been told QA1 has done alot of testing before sending it out, to make sure there are no issues.
Furthermore, I have been a mopar guy since before I could drive and its nice to see that we are finally having more options in the aftermarket.
This system happens to work nice for me because I can use parts that I already have, such as firm feel box and torsion bars. This is a backyard built car, not a shop build, so when offered the chance to try some new parts I said "Hell Yeah!"
Everyone is entitled to their own thoughts and opinions. I am not telling anyone what to buy or how to do things, all I am doing is tryin to show some new parts that are going on my car.
Cheers!

I'm sure quite a lot of testing WAS done, and taking a closer look at the parts I can say the the UCA's and LCA's have changed. The UCA's have changed a lot, adding a pad for the bump stop and leaving more tube material around the ball joint. The shape of the arms changed as well, that was actually why I stopped running the UCA's, they hit my rims when I went to 17x9's. The LCA has changed a bit as well, on mine you can see that its a single tube that runs out from the torsion bar/adjuster part, on the new ones it appears that an additional tube was slid over the original to reinforce it at the shock mount. Even just looking at the CAP stuff I had, there were a few simple things that could have greatly improved the strength, and it appears that QA1 has taken those steps.

I think the new stuff looks great, and at the price they still have it at I think its a good thing. I'm not sure that I'll be buying any of it soon now that I have reinforced my original K's and LCA's, but I'm interested to see how it performs. I'd bet that it will do just fine, as QA1 has a pretty good reputation in the industry.

Hemi Dennys k-member allows you to just switch mounts to go from a small block to a big block to a 3g HEMI

so do you know what motor mounts I would need to put a big block in an A-body with this front suspension kit. just some stock a-body big block motor mounts would work.

No clue.....Hemi Dennys deal is unique to itself. Guess a phone call to QA1 is in order.....let us know what you find out........

I guy I know just put the QA1 k-membar on his 73 Duster with a big block and the motor mount pad location is off plus his oil pump is hitting the K-member. when he ordered it from them he asked if it would work for a big block and they said yes and that was it. Now he is finding out the issues and they wouldn't take it back even before he installed it.

In looking at the QA1 website, I see the K member and upper and lower control arms for sale. What did you get the "whole" package or just some of the pieces ?

Well if asking me, he already had uppers and lowers previously so he just got the K-member. I have not talk to him since two weeks ago so I am pretty sure he figured out what to do so when I see him I will ask about the progress.

Just got off the phone with a tech from QA1---HUMMMMMMMM told me to wait till after November !!!!!! Something big on the Horizon--Can u Say complete bolt in NEW Mopar Front end = Coil overs---Steve--Told me to be hush hush--LOL THought I'd share!!!!!

Did he say anything about front steering gear and fitting a big block? I need to call up there again and volunteer to be the A body, big block drag racing ginnea pig.

Is that a stock spindle or where did it come from? I have aerospace drag disk brakes that are mounted to stock SBJ uppers and would like to keep using those brakes. I suppose I could just get a set of UCAs that fit the SBJ and use my existing spindles.

One thing I kinda liked about the old setup was the way they converted to front R&P steering except welding the arm to the spindle was kinda scary. An old school guy at the local Mopar speed shop says they used to reverse the spindles and embed a R&P in the K frame. May be what ole Bob Schindler did.

"...till after November" means after SEMA in Las Vegas. I saw another thread here a couple of days ago saying something about QA1 having some big news and new products for us Mopar guys that will debut at SEMA in November.

Ken......you just HAD to drag that up didn't you? :D

Well, he asked...

QA1 has a good rep in the industry. CAP did not.
I'm sure the QA1 branded products are light years ahead of CAP in quality.

If they do a coil over should we expect it to allow for lowering the car?

I will be watching this with interest because I will be putting a 440 in a 73 Duster this winter. Like the RMS unit but it gave me sticker shock:protest:
Is anyone running the Magnum Force unit?
