I wanted to share with you guys a project that we have been working on for the past 6 months. We reached a huge milestone this week and fired it up for the first time! Here's a little information on the build. We started with a perfectly good 06 charger r/t and a stripped out 71 swinger. Our goal was to use the entire drivetrain, interior, and rear suspension out of the charger, but keep the outside of the dart looking "stock" or close to it. We also installed the dartbodies.com front suspension, with modifications done to retain the four wheel anti lock brakes. We started with removing the engine and trans and interior pieces from the charger. Then the next task was to remove the entire floor from the charger including the firewall, all the way to the rear bumper. Once that was done we began removing the same parts from the dart and fit the charger parts to it. The chargers wheelbase is about 9 inches longer than the darts, so we had to shorten the floor pan to accommodate the shorter car. The rear track width of the charger is about 4 inches wider than the dart, so we also had to "modify" the rear quarters of the dart to accommodate this as well. Looking at the dart now, you would be really hard pressed to be able to notice this. Tim at Tim's Garage is an amazing fabricator and made this project look easy. The car headed off to the body shop yesterday for the final paint and body, and the car will be at the Sema show this year. I will be adding pictures of the process and update the thread until the car is completed.

I'm happy the feedback is positive so far lol. I know the car won't be everyone's cup of tea but it shows you can do anything if you put your mind to it.

I think it looks awesome!!! it reminds me of a few articales I seen in a brand x-mag (ford mustang) where they took a 03 cobra and stuck a 70 fastback on with lots mods cutting and welding of course I like these kind of builds its very creative!!!! glad to see it done to the a-body I will be following this build

:happy1::burnout:

There was a father/son team here in Ontario that did the same thing, except with a 68 Charger. It turned out awesome! Can't wait to watch the video.

dartbodies.com .................. I don't see a thing on their website about front suspension. Can you provide details or a link?

Very awesome. I wish I could have done that with my car but my budget forced me to work with what I had. Don't worry about the purists we have plenty of cars here for them. Build the car you want and enjoy it. That's PURE carcrafting!

You know what I saw that article a couple of months ago. They did a hell of a job on that car. We wanted to keep the chargers front suspension, but the track width was just way to wide to fit in the A body. That B body has quite a bit more room to work with!

You have a good point. By the way, I love what you have done with the valiant. That's one sweet *** ride man. Do you have a build thread on the car here?

Here are some pics of the car during the build.
