A big thanks for the tech help ..But.

I have a 65 and 66 904 auto transmissions sitting doing nothing for over 5 yrs.
All you need to put an auto in ...is a tranny cooler zip tied to the front of your radiator with hard lines routed to it, the trans bolts right in and you can leave the pedals if you want...a torque convertor and flex plate and cheapo floor shift.....done.
I put an auto in my brother 66 in a matter of about 2 hrs and an 18 pack of bud.
A/c retro fit kits cost 800 bucks for a decent one, but are very straight toward in installation.
Best of luck , mike, with whichever path you take.

Thank you, Yes I learned that it must be a 66 or 67 trans because I am not going to put a push button trans in my car, the /6 trans is a direct fit, even the drive shaft, but the ones I find are far away , have it shipped or drive to pick it up and have it rebuilt with a good T converter the expenses are about the same in the long run, gas, shipping, rebuild so on  I have dun the math and looking forward to getting a/c installed :thumblef:
