1965 Dodge Dart Charger

-
If anyone has those, it'd be Gary Goers; see here.

How is Gary to deal with? I ordered some parts back in 1988 and I haven't got them yet! I ordered some other stuff in 1999 and he did it on time.

Any input?

Both my Dart convertible and wagon has them. I don't think I've every seen any reproductions. They look like they were installed just prior to the installation of the inner fenders.

Just back from the Mopar Nationals

Great talking to you tonight! We (slantsixdan) might have found what we need Don!

Gary is a one-man-and-his-wife operation, and lately he has had health problems. I would describe him as "understandably slow, but consistently reliable". I think yours is the first and only never-got-my-order report I've seen regarding him.

(I have, on the other hand, had a fair number of overseas shipping failures on both the sending and the receiving end, having nothing to do with who sent what to whom.)

Omnthe lower end of the inner fender there is a small plastic thing that covers the area where all the mud comes from the front tire.

Does anyone know if these are being reproduced?

Yes, Gary sells these, at least for a 62 Lancer Valiant. I would think they are quite close to yours. The ones I got were close in shape, but the material was quite different. They have a little real, real, light green tinge, not real noticeable, but it's there. Here are a few pictures of what I got.

Do you know if they have a partnumber and if they interchange with
Dodge Dart 1965?

On my 66 it is real pourus and rough, not very spongy but that could be cause of the age. I don't think it should be soft as foam, but more stiff, almost like a tough plastic. I would get a picture of mine but I painted over them when I did the in the fenders. I think one area the paint flaked off and it is showing through, I can get a picture if you like, mine has a rough texture.

Mine were the same way on disassembly. What didn't crumble in my hand during the strip down was disintegrated by the media blasting. Good to know these parts still exist. I was tempted to make my own out of hobby foam if need be.

The looked exactly like those, although I know that's not very helpful as a definitive answer. :-/

I know this wont apply to Ulf but I welded in pieces on mine and smoothed it out. Was a real pain but looks bitchin.

Those looks great! The lines on the side is that from being mounted on the car? On mine I can't see those lines!

I will measure up the ones I have and get back to you.

Those pictures are just how I got them from Gary. I have not mounted them yet. My 61 Lancer Wagon had steel plates in place of these parts, it's funny Mopar went to these foam parts in 62.

Oh, I didn't know that they started with them in 62! I have also sent one to Detriot Musclecar (DMT) so they can check out the possibility to reproduce them.

Will see what happens.

The resonator is held in place with a screw into the rear frame. Towards the tail pipe there should be a saddle clamp. Since I'm a foreigner I'm not sure what it mean but I think it look like this. Is there someone that has a factory exhaust system with the factory saddle clamp? Any help is appriciated.

I have continued to "restore" all the body plugs on the car. The first picture is how they look before. Step 2 is to use brake cleaner and step 3 using WD40. Works out great!

Really Ulf, NOS Mopar Lubriplate? What's next, New Old Stock date coded oil for the engine? Date coded air for the tires? Super rare 50 gallon drum of well preserved 1965 fuel for your tank? Heck, even the exhaust will have the date coded smell LOL :D

Your attention to detail is just awesome, this car will be in a class of it's own when done, and I can't wait to see it in person.....I better start searching for some clothes from 1965 :glasses7:

Keith!I just had a good laugh on these comments! Finding any old 65 cloths yet? :happy1:

After a year of searching I have found a guy that can re dye the dash pad to correct colotr. In Swedem too!

Does anyone have an NOS or mint used dash pad for sale? Prefer brown one!

Today a "small" package showed up from US!

The first of the two packages with NOS tires arrived and I was thrilled. The tires are mint NOS condition even with the yellow trace on the threads and stamps for sending them to dealer!

However there was one or actually two issues!

First the ply rating was not correct but I think I can live with 8 ply instead of 4 ply. The next issue which he didn't tell me was that the whitewall was just 9/16 instead of 13/16!! Was there different size on the whitewalls from Chrysler back in the days?

I know it may sounds crazy but I'm not sure how to handle this. The tires was not for free and the shipping was not free either! And at the same time I'm happy finding 48 year old NOS tires which are very close to factory specs. I will check with the judge but this is frustrating to say at least!

We'll see how things turns out.

Guess you could look at it this way, the exact tires that came on your car probably do not exsist anymore so those are pretty amazing that they are still around. Have you tried Coker tire? The date code won't be right if you get something new. Guess the guy you bought them from should have disclosed everything about them.

Atleast the seller should have noted that the white walls were different widths......

Well,I'm satiefied that I found them but I wish he would have told me about the size of the white wall!

About two weeks I was lucky to find an NOS instrument panel wiring harness. Which means that the only wiring harnesses I need are the ones under the hood! The harness looks great and even the partnumber tag is present!

Anyone for sale?

It is and I'm thrilled about getting them too. But finding the engine wiring harness would be great too. Re the battery positive cable I think I need to reproduce that one. I haven't found a good original one to copy. But all the repops is not good. (even if they are to others!)

Is it some guy or gal on this site that reproduce battery cables?

I checked it out. The front wheels have the big bolt pattern! I have two spare of the old style before 1966. Those are the ones I'm after!

But thanks for the lead.
