Hey guys quick question, installing the cam lifters etc in my LA roller motor. The lifters have yellow paint dabs on them, do the yellow dabs go face down towards the valley or up? I've been searching to try to find out but to no avail. Thanks as usual.

The small hole in the side of the lifter faces towards the middle of the block, or up depending how you look at it.

See pic, its the small hole that you want facing up

Oh Man, I just turned pale as a ghost.
I changed the cam and intake in my truck a few years ago.
I honestly can't remember checking that.
Should I pull the intake and check?
This was several thousand miles ago.
I do have some brief lifter noise on cold start ups when the truck has sat for long periods of time.

It should not hurt it, from what I researched it causes it to tick and have issues pumping up so if you are good, you are good!

That is why they put the paint on the lifters. The paint is used for the lifter installers to put the bleed hole up so the lifters prime easier/faster.

As long as the lifters prime (stop ticking) you are ok. Having the lifter upside down will allow them to loose their prime faster (bleed down) when the engine is not running and take a little longer to pump up when started. As long as they pump up ok, they will be ok.

But for the price of a gasket as stated above, you can put the oil holes up and then not have to worry....
