Since yo had a Carter on top, you should know that all Carter/Edelbrocks are a mechanical secondary carb with an air door above it to smooth out the transition into the wise open throttle position. AFB's have a counter weighted air door while the AVS/TQ's have a spring loaded air door.
The Holley Caleb's vacuum secondary is built in.
