Okay so I haven't had any sort of a chance to measurements (and I know people run the Ford off set with this combination) but I have an 8 3/4 from a 69 B body (that I've already moved the purches) that I plan to run in my 68 valiant. I picked up a set of western wheels that are 15x7 with 4" bs. I was thinking of running a a 255/60R15 in the rear. So does anyone know if it will fit without narrowing the rear?

If it does fit, it will be very close. May need to trim the inner lip of the wheel opening on the rear quarter.

I could be wrong, but I believe you will need a wheel with more backspacing if you plan to run a 7" wide wheel and a 255 width tire. That's a lot of tire for that wheel-well, even with a stock width rear-end, and the B-body rear is ~1.5-1.75" wider, per side.

Your going to need more back spacing and a wider rim to run that wide of tire. Yes people put 255 on 7" wide rims but you should have at least an 8" rim for it to fit properly. Good luck finding a 15" rim with the extra offset. Centerline Racing and I think Weld are the only ones who have some positive offset 15" rim. This is why I went 17" on rims, way more tire options (i.e. better than the way outdated BFG's or Copper Cobras in terms of tread pattern, compounds, and cost about the same) and better custom wheel options. Some folks run a 94-04 17" Mustang rim, there is a large post on that topic with all the info you need if you go that route.

Get the rear in there and measure. Buy a Percys Wheel Right if you want it perfect.

no its not. its step by step how they did it. even showed a pic with wheels on the car. after the modifications done.

Error #1 - 62-70 b rears ARE NOT the same width... Period!

Error #2 - 53.2" LOL... nope.

Error #3 - 1.8"

F it, believe what you like.

yep i sure will believe what i like, thank you very much. i have done the swap as well using the article and i got the same results.

Yep, that backspace is going to be REALLY tight on your 1/4 panel. I don't think it's going to work without trimming, especially if the car sits down on the tire.

I have the same body style and same B-body rear end. I run 255s, 6.25" backspace with +35 offset if that helps. mine are 18s but the width is the same. they are centered perfectly.

My rear don't sit in the weeds. I have SS springs in the rear and even with the AR 1" drop front spring perches and 245/60R14s I lots of room between the fender and the top of the tire.
