ok, now there is another thread going about what type of car different people would pick if you could have any car in existence and money was no issue.

well that is very cool and nice to dream but for me it was hard to answer because in my own mind i already have my dream car.

my mom always told me since i was little that "life is not always about getting what you want but wanting what you have"

so this thread is for your currently owned dream car.......what car do you have that when you look at it , you get complete joy and it keeps you in the hobby. Maybe the car grew on you or it was a dream purchase for you....either way....what car do you already own that makes you smile when you look at it?

for me its my 68 Dart....given to me as a birthday gift and i wasn't really a fan of 68 darts before but now it has become a most prized possession because of who i got it from and because its a cool car IMO lol. even with its slanty engine that purrs like a kitten :D it definitely keeps me motivated to keep working and i have done a lot of work to it so far

Having owned a slug of cars in my life time, I have to go back in history to what I had and either say a 1969 Mustang Mach I CJ428, 1969 Camaro Z28 396 4speed or a 1968 Roadrunner 383 4 speed. There have been a lot of others along the way. When I graduated high school big block high performance cars were cheaper than Pintos and Vegas because gas hit a $1 a gallon and no one wanted those gas hogs. Average price for a really, really nice big block car was $300.

I found my dream car and it has all the options I would have chosen from new. My friends see it as a money pit (it is) and a rust bucket, but I know what it's gonna look like when done! And that's what keeps me going on it. Ever since my dad sold his 1970 Hemi Orange 340 Swinger when I was about 8 I've been searching for one ever since and about 17yrs later I found one. My cousin actually found it online for sale but told me about it a year before when the previous owner wouldn't sell it. My dads was an original tan interior auto car (he changed it to black when he restored it) and I wanted a black interior four speed car and the one I got is exactly what I wanted! It will be a few years before its done, but I enjoy every minute of working on it.

Here's what I see it as!

My current '69 Swinger is my dream car, and by far, the best of the three '69 Swingers I have had over the last 35 years. I have always loved the square body style, it is like a 3/4 scale Road Runner, and with the 340, it is blast to drive.

for me it is also my 68 Dart. I have loved these cars since I saw my first 68 factory super stock car. There are other cars that do it for me, but every time I see my dart I can't wait to take it for a drive.

I too have had a few cars in my life my 68 Roadrunner,440/4 speed [my first car] what a pile but it was fast and mine, a 72 Gran Torino Sport 429/auto, a 76 C10 4x4 [mudder], a 74 Corolla 400 small block/auto, 71 Pinto 351/auto, 78 Pontiac lemans wagon 305/auto, 69 cutlass 442/w30 clone, 69 C10 406/auto [my favorite old truck], 2 ram 3500s a 95 and 98 both dually and Cummins/auto, 79 impala box 355/auto but my current car is my favorite out of all of my others [except my 69 C10] due to the fact that it's a rarity around here in my area [there are about 10] with in a 25 mile radius from here but they are rarely seen too far from their home base so when I go to shows i'm basicly the only barracuda there possibly one of only a few Mopars!! I would love to get her all spiffied up but finances won't allow that now but she is just as cool as is this one is a keeper I may get other cars in the future but this ones staying with me till i'm gone!!!

Well I guess it's natural to "wish for more," but I'm pretty happy with mine. I CAN after all, drive it. I didn't buy it to be a trailer queen

My spun rod bearing, oil leaking '89 S-15! Lol just kidding!! I'm still working on getting a car I love... Great thread idea, Rani!

I absolutely love my 73 Dart, but with going back to school and losing a job, I think I have to sell it. Better to have loved and lost though right?

When I was looking at the other thread I thought to myself, yeah there's a lot of cool cars out there but mine are my favorite already.

I got the 73 dart swinger as a birthday present when I was maybe 15?

At first I though "cool I have a car" Then really did nothing for a few years and lost interest. got my license and had some shitty cars to drive around while the dart sat in the yard. As that was going on I was slowly turning into a gear head by screwing with minibikes, dirtbikes, quads and stuff like that. Then my dad said he was going to get me a car that was better on gas to use to drive to college. my dad said it had to be a 4 cylinder. The gear head bug had bit by then and I requested it must also be rear wheel drive and be a stick!

I ended up with a 85 toyota celica my dad got for $500

I fell in love with this car and learned how to work on cars because of it. I did a timing chain, headgasket, then i put a bigger cam in it. Eventually I installed a bigger rear with an lsd. But that 22re engine just was so slow no matter what you did to it. Then one day I realised I had the ultimate go fast car sitting in my backyard. So I got to work on the dart, First order of buisness was to get it roadworthy. Did all that and even with a stock 318 man it felt fast. Then I started upgrading the 318 and added a nice Sure Grip rear and man it was fun. Then I spun a rod bearing on the old wore out engine. So I rebuilt my first motor and upgraded to a 4 speed while I was at it. Man does it rip now for just a little low compression 318!! Still working on it slowly but I feel like this car is just perfect for me. Now that I know more about cars I really like the idea of a small car and a big motor. I also made some cosmetic changes along the way.

I love my dart and would never trade it for anything. but, I also love my celica. Without it maybe I would have never got into cars. I really love this car too and will never get rid of it, but the 22re could barely keep up with traffic! This was no good, so I decided I needed more power. at first I thought about turbo charging the motor but, the dart taught me a good v8 is all you need. so I decided I needed to swap in a v8. My ultimate dream would be a modern hemi but my budget was LOW. My first thought was a chevy v8 but it turns out the rear sump wouldn't clear the cars rack and pinion. my second choice was a ford 302 because the engine is very narrow. Front sump worked great with my car as well. To make a Lonnnnggg story short I ended up swapping a 91 mustang 5.0 and a ford t5 into it. I just finished the swap a few weeks ago. I plan on keeping this my daily driver so the motor is basically stock. Man is it fun though! it still has the handling and braking that made me fall in love with the car but now it has loads of power. Now when i take it to car shows people like it too! Finally the car that got me into it all is getting the love it deserves!

My 1992 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance - 61k miles, drives like a brand new one. Definitely not for sale...ever. I call it "Yeti" because it's big, white and you hardly see them.

Good thread,great idea. I work,on a different theme. Take what you actually have,tweak/tune/modify to your tastes. A big fan,of budget builds. Spending coin,done that. Prefer simpler builds,any more.The car,72 Scamp.The theme,early 70's street machine.

I don't know... I get the idea of both threads. Personally, I want a '71 Challenger convertible. One of these days, I plan on owning one.

In the meantime, the only thing I want is to get going on my '69 Sport Satellite and my '78 F250. Both of them have held my attention and imagination now for quite a while.

I guess my Dart is my dream car because I always wanted a car that was born the same year as me(actually this is my 2nd 67 Dart, the first one didn't fare to well), and ever since I was a teenager I wanted a convertible. I have accepted the fact that I don't need everything 100percent correct. My goal is a nice looking and driving cruiser.

Easy answer, Rani! It's gotta be my current '69 Dart project.
Why? Because I bought it as a project when I realized that, although I'd been without a Mopar for a lot of years, I wanted to return to my Mopar "roots".
I was in the middle of a long-term restification of the 1983 Hurst Olds that I'd owned since I drove it off the showroom floor in 1983. I was saving up for paint when I realized I really want a '69 Dart to build similar to the '69 340 Swinger that first got me involved with Mopars back in late 1969. So I went looking for a solid '69 Dart project and found one on eBay. I used the rest of my Hurst Olds project funds to buy the Dart and later sold the Hurst Olds that I'd owned for 27 years to help fund my Dart build.
It's still a project and may not be complete for another year but it makes me smile each time I'm in my garage.
And not only that, but getting my Mopar back led me to both the FABO "family" and all the great people here, and the wonderful people we've met and fun times my wife and I have had with Inland Mopars Car Club.

Wanted both for so long.

Modern muscle design. To me an instant classic.

And after years of searching - an old school mean muscle car. (Never thought I would refer to my Viper as my "slow car").

I'm not a viper fan it's nice, but that is a sweet Valiant you have there sir!!!!

I want another one and there will always be more cars that I want. But I am more than happy with what I have. We are all very fortunate to be able to have toys at all when there are so many who cannot afford such luxuries at all.

I have a love hate relationship with my Coronet. I love to nail it and hate to let off.

For me, it my superbird. I have owned it sense 1980, and is the mopar I had always dreamed of owning sense I was a 10 year old kid. I am very lucky to be able to own one of my dream cars.
