i have a question regarding painting my Mopar 225 before putting it back in the car. I have the motor on a stand right now and it has been wire brushed, sanded, and wiped ready for painting. The head and block are intact along with all the internal parts like the pistons, lifters, rockers, pushrods, and crank. My spray painting issue is that my driveway is sloped so that i can't wheel the engine and stand outside to paint it without a lot of difficluty. So I was thinking that maybe I can hookup my dry vac to a clamp and turn it on while I am painting so it catches most of the over spray and then I can get it done easy. I don't want a ton of overspray on everything in the garage. Any other suggestions?

Are you going to rattle can the engine? If so, I don't think you will need to be overly concerned with too much overspray. One thing you could do is buy some cheap four mill plastic and lay it down everywhere.

But, before you begin painting, I would make certain that the engine is absolutely chemically clean If you want the best results. Good luck!

I do all of my spray painting in the garage. Those cheapy plastic painters tarps work great keeping over spray off of everything.

What would I use to wipe it down so I know that none of the engine degreaser is left on it?

A decent wax and grease remover can be had at a lot of hardware stores. I think Prep-All might even be available at Walmart.

Spray it one with a spray bottle and blow it off with shop air.

I am going to attempt to paint the engine block of my 340 Duster and wanted to know if anyone has experience painting a motor while leaving it in the engine bay? I have viewed some videos on You tube but hearing tips from someone who has actually done this project would be helpful! Thanks in advance!

For best results, start your own thread....
Much better results, than jacking someone else's thread.

To the OP,
Wherever you paint, your going to have so overspray.Either get the motor outside,or doe as others have mentioned, and cover everything with plastic.
Good luck !
