Posting for my friend that doesn't use computers.....He has a 1970 Super Bird with the 440....Ill find out the options that it has and add it to the next thread. I have had the pleasure of driving it. Galen Govier (spelling?) flew out two years ago to inspect the car and register it. My friend (Bob) now has possession of the car and here is the story.....it was Bobs friends car who lived in St Clair Michigan...Bobs friend passed and then the son took possession....his son is more into Chevy cars so he made some trades on a couple of cars and some cash so Bob now owns has the car......the motor was rebuilt about 10 years ago as well as the trans which cost them about $10,000 and the car has been repainted once. The passenger door was replaced but Bob still has the original door---This is what I remember but they do have the receipts so he can get more specific obviously....I do not think this sight allows phone numbers so I will just update the thread and you will have to send me a message for replies I think.....he is asking $$89,000 and will consider trades towards the car....Bob is more of a Chevy guy if you have trades in mind.....car is in Port Huron Michigan - Bob also has an excellent Ebay account if you need a buyer guarantee or something- I was able to drive this car on cruise night....chuckle, most expensive and rare car I will likely ever drive

The bird is a #'s matching car 440 4bl super commando Was the 64th car made is the 8th four barrel still in existence is on the nascar list as the 26th conversion I have original window sticker and sales receipt, ordered a Galen Govier report. Have not yet found broadcast sheet Car was repainted in 1978 and not restored since.. Paint is good and shinny but has 40 years of road scars - a number 3 car condition....have original drivers door that needs repair. Center of trunk pan needs work but not quite replacement. Floor boards are good car was undercoated when new don't see any bottom damage Car is all original, except carburetor is a holly street avenger, electronic ignition and aluminum radiator with electric aux fan Have original carb was rebuilt with engine, original distributor was working perfect when removed, and original radiator was rebuilt with engine and stored. All go with car. Engine and trans were professionally rebuilt in Oct 2008 (stripped, acid dipped and rebuilt) cost $10,000 approx 800 miles since and only to local car shows and weekend cruises. Car runs and sounds great. Car has ALWAYS been garage kept. It has 117,000 original miles...3000/year. Car is listed at $90,000 or best What else can I tell you let me know .....can pick you up a Detroit Metro Airport or Flint Airport in Michigan for an inspection of the car (both about 1 hour away)

No, you can't post a phone number unless you are a gold member and you really need a bunch of pics and documentation if you want to create serious interest in a car like that.

Like I said just posting for a friend and not too familiar with the site rules so not posting my phone number or email...you will have to send me a message on this site so I can give those to you.....tons more pictures available obviously or can take more of the car for you...this is one of the most unique style cars ever made.....save you negative comments for the Ford and Chevy sites will you...

I think people would like to know and could help with your sale:

Column shift auto or console auto?

Bench seat or buckets?

Get the word out besides here though, serious collectors will seek out a superbird. They may try and low ball you, but they will seek them out when they are for sale LOL!
It does beg to question why nobody has pics for the car, or the ability to walk over to it and snap some pics on their phone.
Good luck, I think in the end the new owner will be happy. Not many speculators looking for money on these cars anymore, just somebody who always wanted one and can finally get it.

I do have pictures guys.....but I am only able to email them to people....geeze....when I try to upload them it says the files are too large.....

There are four pics on my flickr account that ibfunru emailed to me. I believe he will be sending me more to upload, but these are what I have so far, just click on the link:

That’s the extent of my knowledge.

any chance you could post a picture of the data tag under the hood. I'm interested in the "J" number so I could list this car in my superbird registery (my registery is not online). Or just tell me the "J" number if the owner does not want the VIN listed. I already know the VIN number, as you stated is was # 26th ( if I understand you correctly) in the serial number list which I have in my posession. Thanks!

I will ask Bob for the J number tommrw.... I keep telling him he should have the car professionally restored and run it on ebay or one of the big auction centers....I never hear places like barret Jackson have a story like bob has on this one......he is always too busy paying attention to developments and houses to listen....lol.....I asked if he would trade the car for a house I just bought last week.....problem is he knows what I paid for the house haha....

ok, great thankyou ! I'm always recording down all the information on superbirds I can find, and currently have about 600 known surviving superbirds, on the registery. I know there are many more, but I'v only started this 3 years ago or so.

Hey, nice pics! Sorry for bustin' your chops.
That looks like a deal to me, good luck.
