for those of us using a factory K and TTI mounts, I am lookin for inspiration or ideas on a good oil filter location. I am trying to keep it off the the inner fender, but cant seem to find a good location. I have been looking at the passenger frame rail, but not sure I have room on the engine side. Maybe enough on the fender side. Any pics would be great...

Joe-

I put mine sideways on the K member, just above the lip and just right of the motor. No pics as of right now...

On my Dakota, I used the relocation kit to move the filter to under the passenger door on the outside frame rail.

This was an old idea I had......

And this is the current set up...Roush cleanable cannister filters...(running different hoses now)

I have it narrowed to 2 places, What Uhcoog1 used my lower radiator hose and auto-trans lines wont allow... but I may end up in that area after lookin at it. Like on the frame just in front of the steering box. Or, maybe build a 90 deg bracket to mount where the AC compressor would have gone... Gotta play with it. Rat, I was looking at your first location, but my radiator make sit SO tight... I am trying to stay off the inner fender, but we will see...

This is my set up. I didn't want it up high on the inner fender. Figured it would look funny and make a mess. Easy to get to and no mess.

1/2"..ID...400psi....whatever that is in dash fittings.

Oil pressure is 80+ at cruise and around 35-40 at idle 0w40 fully synthetic

1/2 ID is what I picked up, just wanted to be sure I wasnt gonna starve it... sounds like ours is no where near starved

Thanks for the reply

JOE

Put mine in the front passenger side fender-mounted it on the front bumper bracket--convenient and easy to get to for changes, used 2 ft -8 hose into a remote filter set-up.

here is what it looks like on the k member

When you unscrew oil filter, does "lip" on k-member interfere with filter wrench or removal of filter?

Can't quite tell depth from picture, but looks like a fantastic idea!

When I was doing research, I read an article that stated the Durango Hemi oil filter adapter angles the oil filter forward and clears everything.

I have this angle adapter. Bolts right up. And hits the k- member. Which would be no big deal, I can cut the adapter, and use a short filter..... But it wants to occupy the same space as the tti swap mount. Too much to try to work around it. I just for the rest of my kit today. I created my own, some Russell fittings, nylon hose.... I post some pics in a couple day s.

If anyone is interested, the HemiDenny K-frame set up clears to run the factory straight up and down filter. I am very happy with that as it has already saved me a few more bucks. It also comes with Gen III motor mounts as an option.

Looks like another point for the hemi Denny k member looks like I will be going this route.Time to save some money.

You would not believe how much everything has been upgraded now, from when he first started. Plus he is very attentive to details. I do not regret any part of going the HDK way.
