66 barracuda

They are very hard to find. I have one in origional box and promos (not for sale) Might be best to look for a resin kit
 
You could get a vintage promo take it apart and detail it. In decent condition they are kinda pricey.
 
I just received my 66 barracuda model from Motor City Resin Casters this week.

Its the first model I've built in a long time. From the thread it looks like many of you are in to customizing & mix & mathing kits. This one suits me as it is all complete and I am impressed with the detail accuracy. It seemed like it took me a long time to get it after ordering and was beginning to wonder but maybe 3 months is'nt long at all for somthing that it sounds like is cast per order, not grabbed off the shelf. It will require me to use my background knowledge of how a car is built. This is not a dozen snap together parts that a ten year old kid can do.
 
Resin kits are for advanced builders for sure but they allow you to build a car almost anyway you like, so if your building a copy of your 1:1 you can build it right down to the last detail if you like.

I look forward to seeing this one progress along. Make sure you post lots of pics we like pics. Good luck with your build.
 
Well guys besides the 1971 Barracuda, made by Revell, what PRE-1970 models are modeled in say 1/24th or 1/25th scale? I'd like to find something in the late 60's for a Sox & Martin car....

I would say the motor city resin 66 barracuda kit is the best bang for your buck. Specially if you are wanting to build a formula S for that's what the kit is based on. The coolest part about that is you will get the commando valve covers which are only found in the motor city resin kit, no kit has ever had them before. Besides that you also get an updated chassis, its a modified revel 69 dart chassis to fit the 66 barracuda. This also gives you separate inner fenders, firewall and radiator support. You can find original rebuilders on Ebay and such but for what you will pay you are most likely going to be better off with the motor city one in the end.
 
-I want a simple ole '68 or '69 Barracuda to build..... Those damn things seem to be sought after almost as much as the real car!

Round 2 just came out with a re-release of the 69 cuda in the original box art. Should be able to get one for around $25- $30, retail price at hobby stores.
 
Yeah, sadly, where I am there isn't a lot of stores to have it! I want the model of the '82 Dodge Ram Van "Bad Company" Even the local Hobby Lobby didn't have that one so I'm actually not holding my breath that they'll have the Barracuda either! -Micheals model kit "stock" NEVER seems to change either always the same ones, never anything "new" and then the local Wal-Mart carries a little, model stuff, again, NOTHING ever new there either so....

I'll have to keep an eye out is all, MAYBE if I can cough up a way to order it online I'll get it but we'll see!

Nice thing is bandit resins makes a 69 notchback bodyshell, interior tub, and back window to make it into one. Need the fastback kit for the chassis, engine, and rest of the detail parts. Pricey though
 
I got a glue bomb rebuilder, however the one I HAVE is missing the bumpers front & back as well as the grille insert.... SO, I'm on the look out for those pieces and MAYBE if I can locate them, I'll have a complete car!
