I had a 67 international pickup that actually had the original 67 farm truck tag on it, I had the printout stating its legal to run the year of manufacture as long as you keep the registered tag readily available to show upon request and still sat 30 minutes on the side of the road waiting for a deputy to finally admit I was right.

my legal tag is a original 70-71 tag in FL they just charge $35.00 for tag to be authenticated and the the vanity plate rate have had the plate for 12 years its on its second car

I found two sets of 72-74 Iowa plates at my grandparents estate sale. I was hoping one set was original to my Challenger. That wasn't the case though. When we transfered the original title to my name, the original plate number was listed on the title. I had a repro set made so now the car has its original plate number back.

Post your Antique tags, I picked this one up last weekend,
It's legal to run these in NC, but you must have the reg tag in carView attachment 1714652759

Texas allows you to run original or restored tags. They must be a matching set of 2 in good condition, same colors as the year issued if you are restoring a set, plus the year stamped on the set of tags must be the same year as the car you are putting them on.

I have a matching pair of 1967 texas passenger car plates. I media blasted them , primered and wet sanded them before applying bright white to them. I still have to paint the black for all the letters and numbers.

The state needs to see them before they will issue them. A friend of mine restored a set of 1963 truck tags for his 1963 dodge town panel. State looked at them and said no problem.

Here is a shot of the one I have on my 62'. You can also see how I have my "issued" tag mounted in the trunk. I bought two tags shortly after I got the car. One is this one numbered 1455 the other is 1456. I just need to find another 62' to put it on..

I just added these to my collection. Found em at a garage sale yesterday. There is even one Oregon plate, near the top of the picture that has a members name on it, which I will ship to him for postage...

that is so cool ...I need to look for some vintage tags now ....Colorado does allow their use and I have seen them around at flea markets but I never thought about it much ...now that I see this thread ....that's a good idea

I had been looking for a long time for a correct set of plates for my 70. Finally bit the bullet on bought a set on epay, $72 for the pair, but they are xlnt shape, and look cool!

Mine, bought a pair at the "Car d Lane" car show couple years ago for 15 bucks the pair. In Idaho you only need one, which is part of the reason. I pay full reg. + fee for the special plate, so it's not mileage restricted.

I don't care for the green background, but that year you have no choice. In 66 it would have been white background / green letters, and in 68 was the first year for ID reflectorized plates and they started using "stickers" again. In the past, Idaho had slots in the plates for fold over "tabs" which is where the term came from

And below, mine. You can see by the bugs'n junk that it gets DRIVEN. A few weekends back I was comin' off the freeway, and a cop had a car stopped. I was nearly blinded by the GD red/ blue. I was going pretty slow past the cop way over on the left side of the ramp, and could not figure why he seemed to be "looking." Then it dawned -- tryin' ta figure out that front "plate" LOL

Cool I love the NC plates with the Yellow and Black, they changed, white back with green letters

Actually the current standard tags have blue letters or red letters. Those are supposed to be blue in my picture but the camera took the color out. The old tag is supposed to be a dark yellow too.

Here's what I've got on my '22 D.B.

Horseless Carriage plates and a Y.O.M. plate. I'm not sure if the California DMV still issues Horseless Carriage plates or not, but if you've already got them, they let you keep them.
