Many of you know that I love building petty cars, I have a collection that now consist of over 100 petty race cars, my goal is to build one for every year the pettys raced. in this thread I will post up my petty cars as I build them. for a while I will show and tell you about some of my petty builds at least 1 or 2 a week. I may include the build up process enjoy and I value your imput. let me know what you would like to see me build.

my first one is from 1955. it is a Chrysler 300 diecast driven by lee petty. this car started as a maisto 1/24 scale diecast, I disassembled it and repainted and added fresh decals. here is the process

Let's throw an "A body" in the mix
1965 Chrysler boycotted NASCAR for not allowing use of the hemi

Richard went drag racing. I could not find a 65 or 66 cuda so I used a scrap 67 with minor modifications to simulate this car- yes it is a 67 but the window was cut out in the back and I made big headlights for the grille, all of this kit was built from scraps.

magnums and chargers

these are 1/43 scale resins that have been recast for me to create several petty racers from 1974-1979 .I assembled painted and created my own decals for these kits. The basis for the resin is the Starter french made kit. pictured are the 73 charger scheme , 75 charger scheme, hershall mcgriff's arca car by petty, joe mcmillian's arca 1978 charger, richards magnum and 3 different kyle petty magnums

This 1998 pontiac is unique because the decals and the body were sent to me for free, it is amazing what people will send you when you share the same hobby, it is a 97 hamilton car but it was missing the hood and glass so i made my own, i wanted to create a clear hood so that people could see the engine detail underneath, this was done by using one of my other assembled kits hoods as a guild to trace and cut clear plastic. this car was raced at Daytona under the lights race that was postponed due to fires in july. enjoy!

That clear hood is a cool idea, LOVE it!

this is the kings 1964 dirt track plymouth, I wanted something that looked a little unusual so I assembled this and misted orange paint on it to simulate red clay used on the dirt tracks at the time.

Nice work Shafer! :cheers:A great tribute to the King! I'm also a big Petty fan myself here are some of mine. I also built a replica of the 43 JR Barracuda I spent way too much time and $$ trying to replicate this one, but I'm happy with it so it was worth it. (I've included the reference pics I followed for mine)
Keep up the great work Bud!
All hail the King:prayer:
