Got the 54' home!

With the help of my two friends Ron and Ron, plus the owner with his back hoe we got the 54' on a trailer. We must have cleaned out 100+ #s of rat and mouse crap from the cab out in a field in B.F. Colorado with shovels, dust pans, garden rake, respirators, gloves and safety glasses. We took it from there to a car wash and proceeded to clean it out the best we could. Once it got wet, man it stunk! :tongue6: We got it home and it will sit till next year when we can afford to work on it. I ran the serial # and it is a 1954, C1 series. # 6389 out of only 12,923 made between July 1953 and March 1955 and one of only 7,075 V8 short wheel base. Does that mean it's rare? LOL!
The engine in the bed turns out to be the original 241 Poly stamped VT334. It's froze. The Poly under the hood is stamped D55I or D551. Based on my research it is a 270 from a 55' Dodge car. 175 hp compared to the 145 gross hp on the 241. I pulled the plugs and they look sweet! Engine turns free. I soaked the cylinders with knocker-loose and will do a comp. & oil psi. test later today
I will photo document this project as it occurs and do updates. I know it's not an A body but it's from the same loin. Hope that's ok.
