the guy painted my car and the "cut and buffed" it in less than a week? should the paint not cure before this "cut and buff" happens

Personally, I'd have waited about 10 days. We ARE talking single stage paint' right? No clearcoat?

depends on the brand, but as long as it got some decent temp for a couple days it should be fine

think about production work, often cut and buffed the next day...

Todays high speed clears can be cut and buffed the same day. Granted, one wouldn't use a high speed clear on a complete but just about any modern clear can be cut and buffed a day or two after application.

good point, the thought that you have to wait a month is probably a carry over from a time people were doing 12 coats of lacquer which requires a lifetime to get the excess solvent out

you got a paintjob and cut & buffed in the same month??? yur doin good!!!!

Base/ clear can and should be buffed with in a short window of about 1-5 days or else it can get really tough, back years ago that was not the case with lacquer and enamels because the paint would need time for the solvent to work out of the paint and was soft for weeks.

Cut and buff next day is very common. My car was painted Yesterday, Its getting cut and buffed Monday.

base clear should be cut and buffed before a week is up or you'll have fun doing it. older paint used to have to cure more, clear base doesn't

Also call the manufacturer of the clear and tell them which type you have and hopefully talk to someone who cares and get their realistic recommendations.
