Are there any spray paints I can use to make my exhaust manifold on my slant 6 look like or near new? I want to spray it before I put it back on the block. but not sure if the grill spray will hold up to the heat this thing will generate. probably gets well above 1000 degrees right?

I painted mine with the highest temp paint I could get. Mine was brand new though. Get it really clean. Mine has held up well over 2 years.

When I built my Riv motor I used POR 20 manifold paint, you can brush it or spray it, I sprayed mine. Not sure what color your manilfold should be but I really like the color of this and it's been holding up very well so far.

I sandblasted mine and then did three light coats of VHT 2K * header paint with long tack of times between, came out great and have 3000 miles on it with no flaking or color change

I used a gloss black paint I picked up at Monument. I think it said 1000* on it. Hasn't gone on the car yet. I removed all the rust and gave it a light sand blasting in our crappy cabinet, then dust coated it about 10 times.

I'll let you know if it lasts more than a day or whatnot, hopefully by this weekend. I used A 500* paint on the intake side. Then finished with a blue rustoleum. My other intake has 1shot on it and it has no issues, so I figured rustoleum would hold up: however, the 1shot melted off the exhaust side within a 10 minute drive - so I don't recommend that.

If you want the manifold to truly look original sand blast it and bolt it to the engine before it's painted. The manifold will end up covered with varying amounts of overspray which will burn off and be replaced by a light coat of rust.
If you want to "detail" the manifold, Jet-Hot offers an iron grey ceramic coating which would be costly but permanent. Calyx manifold dressing is economical and works well, but must be reapplied periodically.

..was talking to the local engine builder and he said he has had good results with graphite spray (quick dry)
i haven't tried it so i sprayed some raw steel and am leaving it outside to see how it weathers...

VHT Flame proof ceramic coating header paint is good for 1300 and intermittent to 2000 deg. I used their gray primer and flat aluminum.
