I know a small block flywheel has 130 teeth...now my question is what diameter is a small block flywheel and for a big block?

a 10.5 inch clutch takes the 130 flywheel .....the same 130 tooth flywheel can be used on a sb or BB.

some BB mainly B-bodies are 11 inch clutch which is a 143 tooth flywheel.

an 11 inch clutch needs a different bell housing which would be hard pressed to fit in an A-body.

if you have a neutral balance flywheel on your SB now it can be used as direct bolt on to any internally balanced BB

if your dealing with externally balanced engines then there will be a difference between the SB and BB in the balance ...not tooth count or diameter

then you need a bell housing made for 11 inch clutch and you will need to custom build a Z-bar, the factory z bars and re-pop ones they have were 10.5 inch clutch setups and bells.

and you might need to beat up your transmission tunnel to fit the bigger bell ....with the 10.5 inch you still need to pound the pinchweld up that is in the transmission tunnel.

You're crazy, I ain't beating up my baby, laugh out loud. I will buy a new flywheel. My ride is all good to go, this flywheel ruined my day.

even with the 10.5 inch bell it is still going to be a tight fit ....that's the world of a Big block A ......last one I built was a 71 dart and to change the clutch I had to separate the bell from the trans and take it out in sections ....not enough room to get it out as an assembly.......each car will be different so its kinda strange.

makes you appreciate a SB where you have some room and get a visual on all the bolts from underneath LOL
