mini starter

Nothing wrong with saying it again!

Got mine from a 99 1500 5.2 from what i understand any 5.2 or 5.9 from the mid to late 90's will work.

got mine from a 98 ram..

only thing ya gotta watch is asking for one thats off of something too new. the connections are different.

All...original.........gear......drive.......starters.........bolt to any engine they were ever used on, so all slants, all small blocks, all B/ RB and I'm even told they can be used on 426 hemis, though hemis did not come that way.

Only issue I have heard of with "minis" is that some have an adapter "thingie" on the electrical terminals which might need to be removed. Some V8 guys had "clocking" issues with B/ RB I think but some starters can be "clocked."

Go to the junkyard and look under every Chrysler car you see. If it has a mini starter,it will fit. There is literally 100 models this starter was used in.

But only on slant or V-8 engines thru the Magnums (2000?). V-6 starters are different, at least my 3.8L is. The Magnum V-6 might use it, but those engines are rare.

I will have to add something here. Chryco made 2 types of the original big heavy starters. One was for small block and slant 6. The second was for big block and hemi.the easiest way to tell em apart was to lay them next to each other. The B/RB hemi starter was longer in the motor windings case. Bigger engine more torque required to turn it. Now as far as the magnum starters go, not sure if they have enough oomph to turn a high compression big block or hemi with ease or not.

These will bolt right onto a /6 or small block no problem. You probably have to use your original bellhousing starter bolts off your old starter the magnum bolts may be metric.

Hope this helps
Matt

I use a mid 90's dakota starter on my stock 383 and turns it over quick and easy with no issues except having to dimple a header tube.

I got mine from...I don't know what. It was in the corner of a dusty old shop and I said, "Hey! A mini starter!" I put it on and drove off.

That's how universal they are.
