Reminds me of two cops in my city back in the mid-70s. They were Mopar guys too and would let us hang out with them on slow nights. One night of boredom resulted in a demonstration of the latest radar technology of the day. They let a buddy of mine make a high-speed pass in his 1964 Sport Fury to show us how it could register acceleration as well as speed.
