I have a 67 dart 273 hipo 7.25 rear axle my question is I have a set of 002 ,003 super stock springs , will theses bolt in with no modification ? If there is a modification needed what would it be , I know these springs are over kill but I do like the stance and the tire clearance , when I get the funds I will be switching to an 8.25 or 8.75 thanks in advance for all your opinions.

I used two 003 springs so mine sits higher than trapsters probably. Do it, you will love your SS springs.

Isn't there something different about the shock plates between a 7 1/4" rear and the others? I don't recall what it is but wondered if that might cause a fitment issue.

The only possible snag could be the size of the bolt in the front spring hanger.
Some springs use a larger diameter bolt. Pretty simple fix, just drill the hanger to the larger size, and get the correct grade 8 bolts. Simple stuff.

yep, there really is no pattern to what the front size bolt is...

only thing im going to add is when i out the SS springs on my 68 when it had the 7.25 is the bolts were not long enough, dont forget the tubes are 2.5" not 3".

Generally went you install SS springs on a car...you need longer shocks .....

You will have to drill out the whole on the front hanger (I had to with my Dart)

Didn't all the old hot orders use imperial shocks or spring extenders?

I went to my parts house told them I wanted a longer shock and suggested the imperial shocks. They are the same length.

not totally in the know here but i do not think he wants to HOOK with the 7 1/4 rear end. So a loose shock may be better for his application as a hard shock would help him hook better, but i could be wrong

My 70 has 002/003 ss springs and a 7 1/4 rear. I had to drill the front hangers and buy correct bolts. The shocks worked but I have not beat on the car hard enough to experience wheel hop. It is a four speed and I would rather be easy on it while I am getting my 8 3/4 ready to install than break it. Car sits really high and had to crank up the torsion bars a lot to get the cars stance the way I like it. I cut the wheel openings to 68 ss and have 15x10's with 295-50-15's with loads of clearence.

If you are worried about the brake hose being too short, just buy one for a mid '70s Dodge pickup.
It'll bolt in, problem solved.

So what shocks are correct and where do you get them? The old MP shocks are hard to find now.

I'll be your huckleberry Rob.
Go old school...Meaning cheep and affective.
Get yourself a Monroe 32128 C body shock. Totals 26.250 in length.
Measures a full 3" longer than the Monroe A body shock.
This shock will give the suspension the full travel it needs,on the launch. :burnout:

Just ordered a set to try.
