I am trying to find out what was the original engine color for a 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger with a 340CI. Is it blue or orange? Thanks a lot

Since a 340 wasn't available in a 72' Swinger, it's really your choice? I believe the V8/318 car's were blue. I'd probably choose whatever looked better with your body/engine compartment color.

the 72 swinger was available with a 340 but in Canada only.

I was assuming this could be one.......if you want it to look correct even if its not a 340 car then blue...the pic I posted is a 72 duster 340

'68-Red
'69-Turquoise
'70/'71-Orange
'72/'73-Blue

That's right RANI, 71 and 72 340 Dart Swingers WERE available! only in Canada. I know of about 10 or so of them in Alberta. A friend of mine has a RED, 4-speed, h-code, 72 340 Dart Swinger. It was sold new at CROSSTOWN CHRYSLER, in Edmonton. They were SPECIAL DEALER ORDERED. About 50 or so cars each for 1971 and 72. ONLY IN CANADA......EH.

I know about the Canadian cars, but his signature say it was a 225 and he's in Tenn. So I assumed it was a US built car.

I like the orange. Personally... That's what we are doing with our '72.

If you're using the correct orange trap door air cleaner it really stands out nicely against the blue engine and would be correct but what ever your choice post some pics of the way you go.
