I am just about to fit a mild 440 - ported iron heads, 484 cam 10 to 1 comp into my 67 barracuda

I have a carb here that i had built by prosystems for an earlier engine that I no longer have.
It was a 501 with 9 to 1 comp made 660HP.

Question is can I tune this carb to suit my mild engine or am I better just to get another carb.

Havent decided on the intake yet but am leaning towards the Holley Street Dominator.
Car will be 90% street/10%strip 3.55 gears and 2500 stall

thanks in advance

Not too big and yes tune it for your combo.

It will be fine

I got a 950 on my 360...come on man...tune it up...

you all just made his head explode. hahahaha

put the proper jets and power valve in it and you will be impressed .

If it was purpose built it may take more than jets and power valves. But - it's not a problem so long as you can do it.

Not to big at all, i ran a 1000cfm modified TQ on my 440 coronet on the street with zero issues and perfect throttle response !! Put it on and have fun !

Thanks for the advice guys.
The holley carb selector says anything from 750 to 870 cfm.

Will give it a go worse that can happen is that I take it off and get another carb anyhow?

Precisely. Ran a 1050 2 circuit Dominator, on a well massaged 396. More response, and torque everywhere. There was a stock low compression 440 dyno test. A 750 Edelbrock CHOKED it. Swapped a 850 Holley double pumper on,picked up 20 ponies. You added 70 inches.....

go here, it is a little higher for a modified engine

an answer of 1 is "Therotically" right on the money"

using 6000 rpm and 950 cfm for your 440 shows 1.24 which would be 24 percent too much

on the flip side....if you install a smaller carb hook up a vaccum gauge and at wide open throttle it doesn't go to zero you need more carb

I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade here...but I have had excellent results in the past using these two methods

this is a case where bigger is not always better, two huge mistakes a lot of hotrodders make:
1. too much cam
2. too much carb

thermoquads are different, they will only flow what the engine needs

I 950hp is somewhere in the 830 to 850 cfm range.im not a big holley fan but the 950 hp seems to be a sweet piece

Does a 501 inch Wedge, even qualify on these tables? A stroker(piston speed, ability to yank velocity) alone, throws all the normal tables away.

thank you for that, I had forgotten that tests of the 4777 650 double pumper
(wet flow) actually only yielded an actual 585 cfm, so I would have to agree with you that the 950 flows wet less than actually advertised.
