I have arthritis in both ankles and my work boots are making it worse. Any suggestions for a comfortable 6 inch, non steel toe, work boot or shoe?

I'm on concrete all day. I wear ARIAT boots. Mostly known for cowboy boots, but they also make great work boots.

i have been wearing timberland pro's for the last 4 or 5 years. most comfortable boots i ever had..

these are what i have.. think they offer them in non-steel toe also... http://shop.timberland.com/product/index.jsp?productId=10880493

make sure they have the Anti-fatigue. boots used to beat up my knees and ankles but these things are awesome, don't bother me at all..

i tried a pair of red wings on in the past. the boot itself fit my foot great but damn walking on them it felt like i had concrete soles. could feel every freaking step in the knees and ankle. sure they would have bothered my hips and lower back after a full day of work too..

watch the redwings too. some buy them just because they are made in america. from what i have read a lot of styles are made overseas these days..

I wear RW boots...some are heavy (honestly, I don't mind), some not. The entire WORX line is from China. Otherwise, you need to look at the particular boot. At actual RW STORE (as opposed to a retailer that carries RW boots) will have a scanner to custom-fit boot & (if required) insole to your foot shape.

I have a pair of Bates boots. Get them at the Uniform stores. Best fitting boot I have ever owned. I am going to buy another pair for everyday, the ones I have are only used for my uniform

Agreed. Been in construction for 29 years. Tried them all. Timberline pros fit great and are decently priced.

I wear skechers-- (don't laugh) I buy 1 size larger then add a cushioned insole-- been doing that for years---

I cannot wear a boot(unless winter)-- my feet sweat too much & cause athlete's foot on my ankles.
I tried redwings, case, a couple of other brands-- but they all wear out too quickly for the $$ spent on them

I usually buy 2 pair at a time (google is your friend) on sale & free ship!!
& rotate them to give the shoe some time to breathe after work.

I'm on the move for 9+ hours a day in all types of weather.

X's 3 on the timberland pros been wearing them 4 or 5 years now. Looked at other boots but went right back to the pros. GL.

I've worn most brands.
Red wings and Chippewa (great boots) are hard as a rock and brutal if you have a foot problem. Timberland pro are slightly better.
Look more towards the higher end wolverine offerings.
Or the boots my company shoe store calls marshmallow boots, Rocky Duty Alpha force.

Very light very soft.

Doesn't matter, he's made his decision. The rest is academic.
Here's hoping your choice is right for you. ;)

For me I must have steel toe and metatarsal. So far have had Red Wings and liked them but made my feet sweat like hell. Gonna try Thorogood's. I prefer the internal metatarsals over external. For running around at home I always have a pair of Timberlands. Usually last me a year.

Sure it does. Not to late to cancel and order something different. :)

Me. I would never buy a pair of boots without trying them on. Even if I had to goto a store try them on then buy them cheaper on the net. Too many variations in brands and styles fit wise to take a chance of being stuck with something not comfortable.

Pretty sure timberland pro and I'm sure some others have a guarantee that if you don't like the fit you can return them.

I agree. I always try on shoes before buying. I have a pair a Wolverines, and a couple of pair of Red Wings. Wolverines you can buy almost anywhere, down here. I purchased mine at a local Ace Hardware. lol

Red Wings are a little harder to find. There are a number of dealers but, they're just not as common as Wolverines, and some others.

I purchased one pair of Red Wings at a Georgia Power plant in Milledgeville, Georgia. I went to the plant to do an inspection of some finished work, and had that they require steel toes anywhere in the plant. Red Wing has a 45 foot trailer dropped at the plant, and it carries a full line of their products. It's set up has a retail outlet.
I went to the trailer and purchased a pair, and got a 20% discount gor having a GA. Power Vender ID.

Incidentally, I have a very wide foot. EEE. and have never had an issue getting a Red Wing to fit.

I use the Wolverines around the house and yard.

You wont be sorry with the Timberline pros Ive been wearing them for at least 10-15 years they are a great boot and my feet and legs feel like there on Vacation when really there at work.. Lol ...Bill
