IMO it's actually better to jack the car up from the drivers side and slide under to do it cause that lets the ATF run to the pass side and not spill out like it would if it were hoisted straight up.

Yep
And start it in neutral for a few seconds before you pull it out.
It lowers the fluid level in the pan to as low as it's going to get.
