Does anyone know if the 68 and 69 GTS hoods are interchangeable and if so, will the insert be interchangeable, too? Looking at a 69 hood but want to get factory correct 68 inserts on it. Thanks for your help.
 
The hood itself is the same inserts are totally different. Inserts physically bolt in but look totally different.
 
Yes, IMO 68 look much better than 69 but without engine callout. Just wanted to know if the 68 inserts would bolt right into a 69 hood. Sounds like a simple bolt on change between the two years. Thanks to both of you guys.
 
they re-pop both style of inserts now but if you want originals ....the 68 style are very rare and hard to find and the 69 style is a lot more common and much cheaper when you find them.

the reason is in 68 the GTS was the only car that had that hood and inserts ...so if you find them, they came off a GTS only.

in 69 that hood and inserts were available on the GTS and new for that year, the swinger 340 ....so that is 2 models ...double the production and the swinger 340 was a cheapy car so they sold a whole bunch of them when they were new.

so if you want originals, the 69 style will be around and you shouldnt have a hard time finding a good pair .....if you want original 68 style, have your pocketbook ready and good luck
 
If you want a nice set of 68 inserts get in touch with PG Classics. They are metal and look really nice. I bought a set and I am VERY happy with them.
 
Just picked up the 69 hood complete with inserts. Looks like front of hood emblems may have been offset to driver side in 69 while right in center in 68. Will be selling inserts myself in order to afford the 68's.
 
If you still have the inserts, I may make a trade with ya. That is if I can remove the inserts without an issue. I have a 68 hood on my 69.

The 1968 had a script doge emblem in the center of the hood and 1969 had the hood emblem offset.

Post a picture of yours if you don't mind and I'll post you a picture of mine either Sunday or Monday, I'm out of town at the moment, to be sure thats what you wanted...or just swap hoods...lol
 
This shows the holes in the center where the 1968 emblem went and someone glued the 1969 emblem on the hood in the correct spot. Pretty crappy job, but at least they didn't drill more holes for me to fix...I'll post pictures later of the inserts. I will have to resize the pictures on my other computer.

yeah, that would be great. These are what you are looking for, I guess? 340? Anxious to see pics.
 
Here's about all the angles I figured you would need. Let me know if thats what you were looking for. My Dart does have the 340 in it. There is pitting on mine also, looks like the inserts were painted orange at one time then over that with black down in the slots. No big deal, just let me know what you think.

Condition looks pretty good. I'd say we have a very even trade. Are all of the mounting studs there? None of mine are broken or bent. This is exactly what I'm looking for. I will PM you my address and contact stuff.
