I need to get a distributor to go with the MSD6AL. It is for my 340 416 stroker motor. I am running a 750 holley with electric choke. I want the car for mostly street cruising on the highway. Should I get a vacuum advance ready to run MSD distributor or should I get an MSD pro billet distributor without the vacuum advance. MSD said I could bypass the vacuum advance if I wanted to on theirs? My mechanic said to get the vacuum advance to get the best on street driving? Any idea on what I should use for plugs. They have to be the small hex as I have dougs headers and edelbrock aluminum street performers and they need the small hex for the socket to fit?

If you already have a msd 6 ..why buy the ready to run distributor?...

And if the car is going to be street driven, I would get vacuum advance also

MSD told me that the only vacuum advance one they sell is the ready to run. It is not a multi spark distributor and can be used with the MSD box.

I have the pro billet on my 415, I am running a 6AL. I run the car on the street all the time, I like my setup a lot, it works great with having no vacuum advance.

I bought the E-curve set up originally for my 408SB .won't clear the wiper motor (67 3speed) PCB failed in first year but made it past warranty! aaah! Was converting to atomic EFI anyways ,so reconfigured dist to run without e-curve pcb straight to 6a box . works well with atomic efi box running ign curve but still pissed about the wiper motor interference. had to run adjustable rotor for EFI so ,have limited options for alternate distributors. just wanted to give you the heads up on that!

Similar set-up to ours,
For a Distributor i use the old MP vac. adv. unit( no longer ava.). I would look at the Firecore vac. adv unit for street use. I've run the car with & without the Vac. adv. and it just seems to cruise cleaner and smoother with the Vac. adv.

Spark plugs I used what Edelbrock recomend for their heads, Champion RC12YC's, for the track I switch to RC9YC's
