I would say the decal has been replaced. If you are looking to do a car referencing this one, use the placement position that is in the black and white photo.

The reason I say it has been replaced, I do know the black stripe was redone. I think the original was tape. The reason I know that, is a piece of it came off soon after I bought the car new. You can see that in the black and white photo.

When I traded it in to the dealer, the black stripe had not been repaired. I would say the dealer probably repaired it. The stripes have the normal rock chips in them now.

I have not paid that much attention to the striping. I will look at the passenger side and see if it matches.

I looked at the passenger side. The decal there is in the same location as the driver's side. Who ever replaced the decals did a good job. I am assuming the dealership did both at the same time, we will probably never know. When the car is repainted they will be replace again. I will have the 1969 photos for reference.

I am adding another photo showing the missing black tape spot on the driver's side.
