I'm putting a 360 in my 66 Barracuda, 727 trans and no power of any kind.
The budget will not allow headers at this time. I have read a lot about Dakota Manifolds. It seems 92-93 are the best? What other years WILL fit?
Thanks for the help,
Mike

I havent tried it in a car yet but the passenger side exhaust manifold from a mid 90's grand cherokee looks like it would fit better than a dakota manifold and has the same size exit.I think the studs in the heads would need to be replaced with bolts.

92 is a larger exhaust pipe diameter than 93 and up.

Was good for 15 HP on the 5.2

Keep in mind jeep manifolds are more restrictive and that's why the jeep 5.2 was rated less HP than the Dodge.

I'm using a '93 on the passenger side and a hp340 manifold on the drivers side. The outlets both measure the same but I don't remember if there 2 1/8 or 2 1/4.

'93 on the driver side would not fit past the steering.

I just saw you have a '66. I'm working on a '67. I'm not sure what fits on the earlier body style.

i'm having the same problem. I finally started putting my 76 dart together and I cant seem to find an affordable, stock, drivers side exhaust manifold that will clear my steering gear box

threre's a couple of threads already on this

if I remember the results correctly the drivers side had some issues with 340 and magnum manifolds

the clearances are so tight that one fellow had to do some grinding and another guy got a set of magnums in without major frigging

I do seem to remember that the 340 manifolds drivers side on the early cudas were a problem

Been there, done that, screwed up the manifold!

I dropped a 2001 Dodge Ram 5.2 Magnum in my 68 B.cuda. The pass. side works fine, except you have to remove the studs and drop the manifold straight down and bolt it on. The 90* oil filter adapter has to come off. The driver's side is a different story. The manifold hits the steering column where the nylon bushing is located on manual steering. I removed the steering colum and shortened 2 1/4". Fixed that. The manifold rested on the steering box and the swivel at the bottom of the shaft almost hit the manifold. I ground a little off of the manifold at the steer box. Made the interference with the swivel worse! Knocked off the retainer on the swivel seal. PITA to reinstall! Ground a little more from the manifold. UH OH! Hole in the manifold! I put the original 68 manifolds on. PM me if you want pictures. You may be able to shim the motor mounts 1/4 to 1/2" to gain clearance. If that causes other problems, guys, chime in!

Bought a set of 92 Dakota manifolds for the 318 in my black 66 Barracuda - not a chance on the drivers side - shimming the mount 1/4" like others suggested was meaningless. Went with Sanderson DD8 block huggers - had to make some mods. See my post DD8 install. The Dakota manifolds are available - cleaned and painted - $175.00 plus the ride. PM for pics.

Here's what I posted a short while ago... Had I not a friend to do the machine work for free, We'd have gone back to the stock manifolds. And we did discover the oil filter adapter can be rotated 180* and not have to be changed out.

Not quite the easy fit on Jake's 65 that others have had....but we got thru it.

Decided to swap the manifolds out for the 5.2/5.9 Dakota/Dango logs. Minor issue. I knew the collar at the steering shaftneeded to be trimmed a bit, and knew there might be a little grinding to do on the edge of the manifold to clear the shaft..... But The right side is dead against the inner fender - need to grind the pentastar and casting numbers off the manifold to clear it, but the left side is worse - it is dead against the steerinf colum shaft. So much so that the front of the manifold is pulled away from the head because the rear of it is pushed in from hitting the shaft. I think I will take them to a machine shop and have 1/16th of an inch milled off the mounting surface of both manifolds. I know it will give me what I need on the right side, and am hoping between the 1/16th and grinding the casting numbers off, along with an 1/8th inch shim under the motor mount, I'll get just enough to let the left side clear the steering shaft.

I'm using mid 80's smogger manifolds ( came from a v8 diplomat ) for mine until I get some cash saved up for the 340 manifolds. I did have to plug the o2 sensor hole and the egr pipe holes, but for $30 at the local yard...couldn't pass it up. The horsepower lost is a moot point as it will still melt both of the 245's to the ground if I want to.

For what it's worth I put a 92-02 magnum truck manifold on my '69 Barracuda. I think your car is a little smaller. I scrounged around on craigslist (statewide) until I found someone selling a 340 driver's side for $150. The mag truck manifold is 2 1/4" exit , 340 a little bigger maybe a 1/16". Had to rotate the 90 degree oil filter and reroute the exhaust otherwise no problem. Well, you may have one problem (could be a deal breaker). The mag truck manifold has a much larger exhaust port, I mean it's gigantic (great for horsepower). It fits over the 360 heads off the mag truck. The 360 heads have a smog port so the manifold had to be made with a large port ( I can post pics if you like) to cover the smog port. I actually had to put a set of 302 casting heads on the car so the mag truck manifold would work. The 302s have a larger area for the manifold to seal on. Anyway it worked great!! I ended up with about 1/2" clearance on passenger's side. See the pics...

What are the options on motor mounts for a '65 Barracuda with a 318 that may aid in using the Dakota manifolds?

I managed to find this exhaust manifold on an old 60-something dodge dart, with what I think was a 273 in it, at a mom and pop junk yard for 20 bucks. it worked great and cleared everything. I tried the Dakota manifold and it still didn't fit.
