Who has used mufflers other than the super turbos on there tti exhaust. I am interested in quiet. I used to run the Hemi style mufflers on the previous exhaust and going back to the super turbos is just to loud.

Joe,

I think the Dynomax Super Turbos are the quietest option TTI offers. I can take you for a ride in my Barracuda sometime and afterwards, I guarantee you will think that the Super Turbos are quiet by comparison. ;-)

P.S. My brother has the GLHS on the road and is planning to take it to Thunderhill in a couple of weeks.

I have been driving my Barracuda and I find them loud. I am just wondering if anyone has squeezed a longer quieter muffler in like the old hemi mufflers. I allready have a loud car for drag racing just wondered if there was an option before I take it to a muffler shop.

Yes, I ran the 20" long Super Turbos and others varieties and they can be made to fit. I found if you flange the muffler at the rear and flange the tailpipe, they just bolt together and you can use the stock style tailpipes as well.

Ok, The tti system fits really tight. So I was hoping I could still fit a longer muffler.

Lilcuda, Thats great to here. I would like to see film or pictures. How is the GLHS.

I haven't seen any photos of the GLHS. I just saw my brother last night and he was telling me about it. I don't know that he has done anything cosmetic to the car yet, just a new clutch, axles, and shift linkage. If I go with him to Thunderhill, I'll take photos.

I had another thought about your mufflers this evening. My friend had glass packs welded into the tailpipes of his 67 Barracuda after he got tired of the resonance. It quieted it way down. You might look into that.

I'd love to do that. But on the Barracuda with tips and a 2 1/2" tail pipe there isn't much of any clearance. I feel I'm as close as I can to the gas tank. And real close to the leaf springs too.

Maybe something with the same OD as a 2 1/2 pipe?

Or maybe something with 1/4" max increase in outside radius?

What about an oval resonator that had a minor outside width the same as a 2 1/2 round pipe???

It is a tight exhaust but having that mandrel bent 2-1/2 pipe is great. Dont think there is much room in the tail pipe area for a resonator. I think running a longer case is the way to go.

I have the dynomax mufflers also. IMO they are too quiet. I wouldnt mind hearing the rumble. I have thought about swapping to the 40 series to get it but doesnt make much sense to do so.

Interesting. I have a new set of 2-1/2 Ultraflows that I was going to use for the strip. Being my street car I need it to be quieter. But if you want more rumble I think the ultraflow would be your best bet. They are almost the exact size and demension so they should slip in. I think for now I will drive for a while and see if I can adapt.

Joe, does your exhaust have an H pipe or X pipe?

H pipe I wanted to be able to split the system easily. I also dont care for the x pipe sound.

I have tti headers & h-pipe, Accurate LTD Hemi style mufflers, tail pipes and tips on my Duster. I like the sound and so do most people that hear it.

Well I drove around and around and I tried to get past it but the Walker super turbos are just to loud for me. Im now an old fart that has spent over 23 years around jet engines and other loud hotrods and I just cant take the drone and loudnes at part throttle and idle. I have a drag car and I can handle that but my street car needs a bit more civility. I prefer a quiet sleeper as opposed to a car that wakes up the neighbors. I know there are people that think there to quiet but I now have to search out a longer case muffler. So now I have two sets of mufflers to sell.

Joe,
go for Walker's VT mufflers. Use the right offset inlet center outlet ones. They have a sound guarantee and you'll be stunned at how non-drony they truly are.
Tom

I used to run TTI 2 1/2" h-pipe exhaust with super turbos and stock 340 exhaust manifolds when my orig 340 was in my car. Drone was terrible at part throttle. I dialed back the amount of vacuum advance with my adjustable advance unit and that got rid of the drone. I run ultra flows now but with the headers and a well balanced and well tuned engine no drone and not loud at all inside the car. When I step on it most of the noise is the carb sucking in air, that is the dominating sound, not the exhaust. Everyone's combo is a little different and ppl have to realize tune can affect exhaust sound.

Im still working on the tune. I am converting the car back to a some what stock configuration and then a stroker sitting in waiting. Still having trouble with the little things. Thanks for the suggestions.

Interesting. How much did you end dialing the vacuum advance back to get rid of the drone? I need to look into doing this.
