true plug and play!

Yea, DIYautotune has a number of similar MS products that appear to be turn key solutions for late model, and more coming this fall. I would definitely use one if I were going late model engine. Well worth it.

That is awesome, I really like the no lift shift option on the Pro but this will get me running way quicker.

No lift shift and extra outputs.

MS3x has this as well.

I'm not trying trying to steer you one way or the other - just want to make sure you know that the pro & 3x are pretty much the same aside from case and coil drivers.

I called Mike at EFISource and he filled me in on what he offers. It is all self contained and plug and play but you also need to use a certain throttle body as well as a wideband setup. It is tuned with Tunerstudio and is pre-loaded with a dyno optimized 6.1 tune. After speaking to him I'm sold just need to get the engine and car ready. His setup is on a couple Drag Pack cars and his LS1 setup was used by BES in this year's EMC.

It's not a GM throttle body its a F&B that uses Mopar Magnum tps and iac that bolts on and has the throttle cable on the driverside. I didn't bring up the VVT since it doesn't apply to me sorry. Call him, he's actually a Mopar nut and bracket races a Duster with a 6.1.

This does seem like a great product. But I see it has 2 knock sensor inputs, I can only assume it does have knock control?

I really wish it worked with the drive by wire pedal as I already have it installed.

talked to him this passed week, real nice guy and very helpful,, there is a few more things u need to buy with this kit,, after this kit there was a lil more than a grand i need to spend to get mine running if i go this route,, sensors, throttle body, wideband, etc,, but seems like a nice way to go,, torn between this and hotwire

If using a stock engine, I would go stock ecm. And from my conversation, you need the throttle body $350 and wideband 2-400$. Another thing that attracted me was the TB is a 92mm unit and even a 90mm DBW TB is $420+. The ability to tune it myself is also another 4-500$ savings in the long run.

What's the story with the wideband, is it just for tuning or is it needed to actually run the system?

He recommends the Zeitronix wideband and controller I think for its accuracy. I didnt ask him why but that particular O2 setup datalogs too.

Strictly speaking Megasquirt doesn't require a wideband for operation, but it's highly recommended. I don't imagine their plug and play kits run any different software/firmware than standard, probably just pre-configured for whatever engine you're buying it for. By that I mean you could likely go into the settings and change to a narrowband or even no sensor, but you'd be liable for any damage to the engine if the tune was off.

Technically you don't need a wideband O2 sensor to run megasquirt, BUT the wideband O2 sensor make tuning a million times easier. Virtually every article I've read on tuning strongly suggests a wideband O2 sensor. A narrow band O2 sensor is really only useful for limiting emissions while cruising down the road.

Also you really don't need two wideband O2 sensors. A single O2 on a single bank is sufficient. Of course this assumes that the left and right bank are getting essentially the same timing, and fuel metering. If you have a homemade intake or are worried that one bank might be lean or rich the second O2 sensor would be helpful, but for most of us using a factory intake manifold the likelihood of a lean bank is much less likely.

"No Lift Shift" is also known as Flat Shift. For those running manual transmission Flat Shift allows the driver to keep the accelerator foot on the floor while you shift. As you push the clutch in to shift the computer will enact a rev limiter to keep the motor from over-revving.

I would assume (always dangerous) the EFI source should be able to enable the flat shift option on their version of Megasquirt, though it probably requires a custom harness which could increase cost substantially.

This setup from EFI source looks pretty good. I've already bought a kit from DIY Autotune, so I look forward to someone else sharing their experience.

With the available inputs that come with it im sure it can be set up. Mike said I only need one O2. The Zeitronix comes with its own didital gauge that can monitor AFR,boost, rpm etc. or about an sensor output you choose in real time while you're driving without needing your lap top hooked up. It can also record datalogs. The Gold box has an SD card for datalogging as well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ZEITRONIX-Z...Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f1b01f438&vxp=mtr
