Just got the call from the body shop! Car's done! Just need to put the grill and some weatherstripping on.

Six years!!!

I'll be putting her back together next week. Cannot wait to drive her. This snow needs to melt ASAP.

Pictures to come. Stay tuned.

That looks like a familiar corner of the shop. Ha ha, can't wait to see it.

Oh yeah? You ever take your car up there? I heard them talking about some '70 Dart they did a hack job on... that wasn't your, was it!?:poke:

Unfortunately, I either cracked a rib or pulled all of the muscles in that general area when I was snowboarding this weekend, so working on the car has been delayed. My goal is to install the grill, trunk weather stripping, wiper linkages and seals, all of my interior, and clean the car up on Saturday. I'll be taking pictures of the final product soon.

Here's a teaser for now.

Thanks all for looking.

Looks real purdy in it's new robes.
Great job so far, can't wait to see it assembled!

He he, yeah a real deep in the pockets one. :finga:

Looks like they did a hell of a job on your paint.

Lol, your car will look even better I'm sure. Mr. "Deep Pockets" lol.

And today starts reassembly. Hopefully I'll have some pictures up tonight.

I do, I just need to put some time aside to upload them lol.
Thanks for the compliments. I'll try to put some up this week.

One of my buddies just got married this weekend and wanted to use my dart as a backdrop for some of the pictures.

I don't have them all yet but here's one for now. The car is finally put back together and on the road. I just need to hook up the heater hoses, radio, speakers, and antenna. It sure does pull like hell though!

Thanks all for following. More pictures to come of the final product.

Edit- Sorry the picture is so small... not sure why. I'll try to fix later.

Awesome to hear! Now go burn up some rubber with that stout 340!

Thanks Joe! The motor is having no problem making short work of those radials lol. I'm about 700 miles in and I've already had to rotate them haha!

Thanks again for the motor and transmission too. They are both even better than I expected!

Awesome build!! Very inspirational.
Looks like your last update was in June...Did you enjoy the car over the summer?

Thank you for the kinds words!

I did indeed. Not as much as I wish I could have, since I decided to build a house (that ate up a lot more time than I expected lol).

The dust is finally starting to settle and I've had her out a few times lately. I will be going to an autocross even on November 10th, so I will try to upload some finished pictures and event pictures when I have a chance.

Here are some of the more recent pictures of the Dart. These were taken the weekend of my buddies wedding back in June. Haven't done much since then except drive it and enjoy it! :burnout:

Thanks for viewing.

PS- Sorry for the haze in some of the pics. I need a shade for my lens for shooting pictures in bright sunlight (rookie mistake lol).

I also attended an autocross event just this past weekend which was a ton of fun. I hooked my GoPro up to the windshield and got a good video of me ripping through the course. I will try to post it on Youtube and supply the link when I get a chance.

And here's a link to the video from the Autocross at the airport.

Hope you enjoy, and thanks for viewing.

Anthony puts on a really nice event, but I'm surprised you took your car through that course! When I used to go, I would cringe going over some parts of the course in my truck let alone a freshly painted car such as yours.

If you don't mind me asking who did your exhaust? I was thinking of trying out Rossi's but I'm not sure if they do S.S. or not.

Haha, yeah, he's a pretty cool guy. Only met him twice but he seemed like a straight-shooter.
And I was a little nervous, but I built the car to be driven. I don't mind tearing it up whenever I have the opportunity. After that last event, I was wiping rubber off the rear quarters lol. I only have about 800 miles on the car and I'm gonna need new tires!

I ordered the Pypes Stainless Steel 2.5" x-pipe kit with mufflers off of Amazon for a good price. Then I ordered the Dynomax Ultra-Flo mufflers needed to fit the kit (center in/offet out, I believe) and brought the car and the pieces to Lou's Custom Exhaust in Pawtucket. The shop is a small gas station with a two or three stall garage, but they do really clean work and they're exhaust mounts are solid (I can do pull ups on my exhaust when the car is on the lift, and the only things that moves is the suspension lol). IIRC, they installed my entire system exactly as I specified for $200 flat.

Mention MVT Racing and say that you were referred there by a tuning buddy and they should give you a good deal. Everybody I know gets their exhaust work done there.
Also, talk to one of the younger guys. The older guy can be pretty greedy.

Where abouts are you in RI? I don't know of too many other members in the area lol.

-Mike

Let me guess the tight circle or the turn right before the back straight away produced all of the rubber on the quarter?

Yeah I've heard of Lou's, I'll have to give me them a ring when it gets closer to having an exhaust welded up.

Hi all.
First off, I'd like to thank everybody here for the helpful tips and kind words. I haven't posted much recently, but I really appreciated everybody's support during this build.

Moving forward, times have changed (as they always do) and I'm looking to pass this car on for the next person to enjoy. I don't get to take her out much anymore and the idea of all that horsepower sitting in place bothers me. The car is still in great shape and only needs a few last finishing touches.

I've put a for-sale thread up here: [FOR SALE] - 1973 Dart Swinger 340/4-speed

Thank you all for looking and let me know if you or anybody you know may be interested.
