Any ideas on how to repaint the white on the black dash bezels (heater-fan- def, etc.)?

After cleaning, I was thinking of taping off everything except the small section where the lettering remains and spraying with a can of white paint, then immediately wiping the excess area with the appropriate paint remover to clean up the undesired over spray.

Or, I could try to use a toothpick and lay the white paint into the bezel recesses?

Currently, neither approaches seem all that appealing.

Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks for any advice.

I recently read of someone restoring like items using a hypodermic needle with the syringe filled with paint. Might be more precise than a toothpick.

I would strip it, spray it all white, mask the white text and shoot the black.

X2 To make it a little easier, you can apply a little Vaseline to the surfaces you don't want painted with a toothpick. Easier than taping and will clean right off.

zippo lighter fluid or naptha to remove the exess I also use masking tape to grab the excess stick and pull stick and pull does a really nice job

Thanks for the advice, I went with the tape off, spray and wipe method.

What I learned. If you have it, use your extra wiring harness tape to mask off the areas you do not want spray on. It is easier than electrical tape to stick to the contours of your bezels and comes off easy.

Spray 2 at a time, wait a couple minutes, then quickly remove tape and wipe. I did all 4 at once and didn't wait. The first one was a little too wet (smeared too much) and the last one a little too dry on the wipe off. After each wipe pass use another clean part of the rag. I used regular paint thinner and white spray paint I had in the garage. The masking tape stick and pull may work better but i did not try that as I read the previous post after work done

Here is the finished product, I am happy with the results.

Apparent smudges on the finished picture are light reflections and not residual paint.
