Passon 5-speed

-
Just got a response back from McLeod. Said project us still alive. I'm on cell now. When I can I'll copy/paste it here. My bet would still be on Passon and the A855.

Heres the message.

Yes the project is still alive, but there is no time table for a delivery date. If you’re in a time crunch within the next 6 months I would look elsewhere say like Tremec.

I know this is a very frustrating topic for many but believe me its more frustrating for us here at Mcleod. We are doing are very best to bring a quality product to the market at a fair value but will not be rushed due to demand. Please continue to check in from time to time with status and hopefully very soon we can make a sale.

Doesn't sound very inspiring now does it?

Thanks HemiMark! If he's come to the point that he's confident with an expected date, that's a good thing. I know he's been jacked around so much by his suppliers that he was reluctant to state any sort of schedule. I'll be anxious to hear, and have fun there!

Will do........

I spoke to him briefly at Carlisle. Pretty much the same response, waiting on final parts to come back from machining and will be building them very soon.

I talk to Jamie for a while at my spot at Carlisle. The trans is a go. He is starting to assemble them this week. He might be telling people not ready yet because his list is over 300 people and he is swap with work. So if he ships out a few a week, it will take awhile before he is caught up. I am sure he would like to have inventory and announce ready for sales. So relax they are coming. If you are not on the list, it will be awhile.

I talked to Jamie today. They have actually started assembly on them. They have a couple of linkage pieces that weren't quite correct so he's still waiting on some of those, but those who are early on his list should receive their trannys soon. As mentioned above, he's still got to keep the four speed work as a priority, as that is what has been paying the bills, so he'll only be able to get out a few per week. For those a ways down on the list the wait is probably still a few months.

I don't know what this means but I saw this on Facebook and if it is true, it appears that Mopar Magazine has a Passon Performance transmission. Possibly going to detail it in the next issue? It is just a quick post saying they are putting it in their Dart Sport.

I Don't know how to hyperlink it, but if you copy and paste in your browser it should work.

Isn't there a video also? It seems I read in there that mopar muscle mag made a video of a test drive. I looked but didn't find it. Any word on it?

I just got off the phone with Jamie and it seems the vent on these is leaking gear oil. That didn't happen initially but it happens now. He has relocated the vent, changed the design of the vent and put a shroud around it with hopes that the leak will be eliminated and he is fairly confident it will. He'll be testing it in the next few days to see if they can proceed with production.

These transmission dont apply to the DIY'r with that price. But they definitely are the cats meow for the bolt-in or #'s matching crowd. These things have a huge place in the market. NOTHING ELSE bolts in without hacking something, especially in an A-body. Think of the guy with a restored 4 speed Hemicar that wants to enjoy it....

I agree, $4500 is a lot, but no hacking! For those of us, like me with minimal fab skills, its a plus.

Expensive trans. 200R4 fits with only a custom cross member and an adaptor for the bell pattern. Plus it holds more power....

I have pretty decent fab skills and i could do a 6 speed install...but why? Jamie puts out good stuff and i know this will be an awesome trans. i for sure will buy one when the time comes. put it on the credit card and dont look back. lol

200r4...BOOOOOOORING. :)
