What do you folks think about these paint plans.

It could work just depends what gray shade you go with. Is that another black stripe by the bumper?
 
Bright Silver. Yes that is a Black strip in front of the bumper.
 
Two-tones can be cool but it's tricky IMO...personally I think you should keep it simpler...on early-a's I've seen the two-tone divided at the bodyline along the beltline (the line that's a 'hairpin' at the front of the car and goes all the way back.) The way you are thinking of doing the hood would look odd to me....again just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions....
 
The hood thing ain't makin it. Try little European stripe they used on the left side. Those were cool. The hood thing ain't cool somehow.

X2. I used a wide stripe on my '64, as wide as the grille. The wide black stripe broke down the expanse of gold. It was easy to paint, would be easy to duplicate for any future repairs. The car was destroyed in a garage fire, feel free to copy the design. See my avatar.

The top one might be ok...

I've been where you are, it's fun to come up with ideas, but still I believe you're better off keeping it simple. If you ever want to sell the car you don't want buyers saying, 'too bad it's got that crazy paint scheme.'
 
The first one in post 14 might work. The rest I aint feelin.
 
I like the 2nd idea better. I agree that the hood in the 1st pass gave it a dumpy look. Bright silver is a popular color now, and gives a classy look. But today's fad is tomorrow's laugh (think Gold Duster). I wouldn't take a risk with today's fab colors (burnt orange, dirty yellow). We noticed a silver M-B 300D on the street in San Fran recently, same model as the white one my son drives (and hates), and he said he would love it if it was that silver color, so I am considering it. I probably won't 2-tone my 60's Mopars, but if I had a 56 Chevy, it would be de rigour.
 
Paint it whatever makes you feel good! It is your love of the car that is important! My 65 Formula S is a work in progress mechanically done, just needs the body and paint, I refer to it as a hole I throw money into as it isn't worth all I got into it already! Mine will hopefully go back to its original blue color adding the rally stripe it never had even though it is a true Formula S car!

I like your 2 tone ideas, the part that looks funny is the painted area in front of the rear bumper. it doesn't look right.
 
silver w/ met. black but not sure about the hood it needs to be wider to match the trunk lid & maybe a 1/4 inch red pin stripe between the silver & black just a thought good luck with it
