Stopping the knock: Lower compression and ported heads...

The thing is, the Lunati cam actually makes more cylinder pressure than the MP '509. It isn't just a matter of the static compression.
The machinist did the cleaning, resurfacing and the valve job. He had a specialist do the porting.
I was told that the valve stem seals were off on 2 of the intake valves. I didn't notice that when I changed the springs. The guides were all fine, but with seals not totally covering the ends of those two guides, maybe some oil was being drawn in. There was gunk on every piston, some were a little more than others. I still say that I didn't see or small any oil burning, but I may be wrong there. One Intake seat was out of round even though cranking compression was fine. It was corrected during the valve job. The porter gasket matched the huge 2" TTI header gaskets. The intake ports were not changed much, he chose to focus on the inner part of the intake ports.
